If you put 8 random names and numbers up on those things, would anyone know the difference?

In fact, are we sure that those are players and not the names of all the people that bought season tickets?

On the opposite end of the spectrum.... You have my attention, Royals.

Well, that's cool. However, it's replacing the .390 Club which nobody knew was free entry and a great place to watch the game in air conditioning with a waiter after buying a $5 ticket. Of course, since it was always empty I guess they had to do something with it.

the people picking the Cubs to finish last have made my steve buscemi billy madison list

they will be berated with twitter heckling or something when the time comes

It's not something I would pick, but it's not exactly impossible. Both the Brewers and Reds have at least some dead-cat-bounce potential, and this team still has plenty of downside.

This Ben Carsley character has the Cubs in last but Bryant/Soler 1/2 in ROY voting. If Bryant and Soler are both that awesome, I find it hard to believe we'd finish behind the Reds.

Yea... Not really able to follow his line of thinking there.

Ahahahaha poor Twins

Jeff Passan @JeffPassan

Wow. Ervin Santana suspended 80 games for using stanozolol, a steroid.

Oh man they gave up their second rounder for that signing, too. Woof.

Masahiro Tanaka announced Saturday that he's changing his pitching style this year and that not much should be expected in the way of velocity.

He had a 13/1 K/BB ratio this Spring.

I'm not saying Tanaka is going to be as good as he was last year, but spiking the football(TM Kyle) over him now is hilarious.

While I certainly wouldn't call the Tanaka signing a bust, I can't imagine that too many would have been as eager to sign him (and I doubt the Yankees would have invested as much as they did) if they knew he'd miss a huge chunk of his first season because of an elbow issue, then have to dial it down the next year, ostensibly to prevent that elbow from exploding. None of it augurs well, for the near future, at least.

He should have just had the elbow operated on, imo. The Yankees probably aren't going to the postseason this year, and if his elbow blows up late in the season, then it's going to impact 2016 heavily. Even if nothing happens this year, there's going to be a death watch over Tanaka's (presumably less effective) arm until the seemingly inevitable strikes.

BPro has them at 22% chance of making the playoffs, so they're certainly more likely to miss than make it, but they shouldn't be writing off their season in April either.

I wouldn't be a fan of writing any season off, but I'm just not the type to leave a known problem unresolved. And it's not as if the Yankees have a closing window they need to squeeze through in 2015 or anything. I understand the reasoning (Tanaka probably wants to justify the investment and the Yankees want to win) for not having the surgery, I just don't think it was the prudent move.

I agree it seems strange to see guys choose rest over surgery, but I trust these teams' medical teams aren't incompetent to the level of putting off surgery to get one sub-optimal season before an inevitable surgery.

You can get some significant time before it goes. I think Wainwright had a partial tear for 5-6 years or more before his went. One of the reasons the Braves gave him up was because of some elbow questions.
