My experience is that WGN broadcasts didn't air on the EI channels anyway. They only showed CSN games, but you can watch the other team's broadcast.

So is the DirectTV thing only for non-Chicago people? Anyone know how this would affect a bar that uses DirectTV for their cable?

All tribune owned stations are affected, which in NY means WPIX channel 9 (which airs some Mets games). I would have to assume this includes local WGN in Chicago on directv.

Although, quite a few bars with directv tend to have regular cable as well, which would allow them to air the games that way.

That has always been true, but I thought that was because DirecTV already offered the broadcast through another channel they have available. Now that WGN is no longer available through DTV, wouldn't it mean that there's an EI channel for it now?

I doubt it. They never air non-CSN games on EI. Likewise, they don't air Blackhawks games that are on WGN locally (as opposed to superstation) on center ice. The only chance to see it is if the other team is airing it, and strangely enough, with a few teams that isn't every game. There was a time in the past decade when Pittsburgh didn't air a few games. The Cubs were on WCIU and therefore I wasn't able to see it anywhere.

I'm hoping that the opening of baseball season forces Directv and the Tribune Co. to reach an agreement. Missing opening day would suuuuuuuck.

Man I forgot about the dispute thing, I had scheduled tomorrow off from work...bleep! Hopefully one of the local bars has cable too!

Not happy about having to watch the National broadcast tomorrow, but I'll take it.

Ehh, Starsburg's 21 K performance will be more exciting through their eyes, anyway

The local bar here wasn't able to show the NASCAR race this past Sunday on DirecTV because there is also currently some sort of dispute with FOX, also.

Oh no you don't. You are required to believe in this team on opening day. We're winning, period.

I really underestimated the apathy, there looks to be seats available all over the park. Even bleacher seats, when was the last time you could buy non scalped bleacher seats the day before opening day?

It probably doesn't help that they are $100.

$100 bucks for cold bleacher seats in April. And you'll need to burn a vacay day.

Yes, I certainly understand the apathy. Why doesn't MLB do their big bash on a Sunday at least? It makes little sense to me.

Tribune owns several fox affiliates.

I love how these disputes happen, and both sides take to the airwaves:
