4-3 Cubs. Dempster is amped and has too many walks again

Not sure what you mean by this but Dempster wasn't too amped on opening day last year. He didn't walk anybody until the 5th. He cruised through 4 but struggled in the 5th and 6th and never should have come out for the 7th.

Hard to tell who got the loudest ovation there. Sveum, Barney, Castro, Byrd, and Dempster all close.

I still haven't forgiven him for the 7 walks in the playoff game.

#21 unnecessarily used once again.

think it's going to be quite awhile before sammy is in good graces again.

True, but I don't think a "silent" retirement would be too much to ask for. At the very least hold it back for someone with some clout in the game instead of handing it to the guy who just showed up yesterday.

I don't know if it was just my audio, but I don't think anybody got a particularly warm welcome by the fans.

I don't think they have any idea who half these players are.

Not sure what such an empty gesture is supposed to accomplish.

I think Dempster, but maybe they were just happy that it was over.

I was happy that I didn't hear boos raining down on Soriano. They're going to give him at least 1 inning this year, which is awful sporting of them.

So was I, which made me wonder if I just wasn't getting good audio or not.

It all begins now guys!! In a couple of seasons, we will all look back on this day with a quiet fondness. This is the day where everything begins to change. This is the day the Cubs take their first step towards the long awaited World Series Championship. God damn, it is a [expletive] great day!
