A well-documented 2009 USC study showed that marijuana is not only a perfect alternative for Ritalin, but treats the disorder without any of the negative side-effects of the pharmaceutical.

Maybe it's because I have ADD instead of ADHD, but I find that absolutely ludicrous.

yeah somehow i think my employer would be less than thrilled if i smoked a bowl before coming in to work instead of popping a concerta.

Yeah, lets cut the crap on the medical benefits of dope. It's about as dumb as saying red wine is good for your heart. It gets you high and that's the main reason people use it for.

Point taken and it does make sense. I guess it's the parent in me that scares the crap out of me to have booze and pot legal at the same time. I never liked pot and I don't drink, so it doesn't effect me in the slightest.

Since when?

CC how does someone who's seen so many random and non-random horror movies not indulge in the ganj?

Never liked it. I tried it a few times in high school and it just made me massively paranoid. Just doesn't do it for me.

Speaking of horror have you seen The Divide? It's on vod and it looks really good. Directed by Xavier Gens who made Frontier(s) which I loved. Looks intense.

If its on demand I'll have to catch it because Frontier(s) was a good watch. DID see Insidious and it lived up to the hype. Didnt even smoke any pot before watching it.

I liked Insidious also. Hard to believe it came from the director who made Saw. No pot smoking references.

Just trying to keep the thread semi not hijacked.

So recreational use was legalized in CO and WA last night (and denied in OR). What will this mean for the legalization of marijuana as a whole?

I know the big issue is still the federal government keeping marijuana illegal and they don't appear to be budging anytime soon, but how do people see this 'legalize pot' initiative looking in say 30 years? Will a larger percentage of the country cave at a state level after seeing the tax money that WA and CO are pulling in from recreational weed ir will it continue to be something only a couple of liberal states adopt kind of like Nevada and prostitution, or will the federal government find a way to enforce their laws and keep this down?

Interested to hear thoughts on this.

Whoops, I am an idiot. Read the first answer as legal and not illegal and selected it.

Anyway, it should be legal. Dumb for it not to be. Don't use it, just don't think it makes sense for it to be illegal.

This is interesting. There will now be data from the US as to what happens with legal pot. Everything from usage, crime, accidents, health data, etc.

I've always been an advocate of legal marijuana but now we will get real US data rather than hypothetical figures.

The Maryland State Senate voted to decriminalize marijuana. Unless you're caught with intent to sell, it becomes a civil crime subject to fine rather than a criminal misdameanor. IIRC, there were about 24,000 arrests in MD last year that would now result only in fines up to $500.

This is probably what most states will eventually wind up doing. It's still illegal and if you're under 21 still a crime but it will save the state a lot of money in court costs, etc.

It's like the couple I knew that got married on a Thursday because it was 4-20. Or the people who always buy these expensive sneakers because they're made out of hemp. I have smoked my share of weed in my day, but Jeebus, it's a [expletive] plant that grows in the ground. Get a life already.

What sort of extremist activity are these crowds partaking in?

Watching soccer.

its like, we all get that it should be legalized and yes, alcohol is legal and therefore marijuana should be by the transitive property or whatever, but i dont think smoking really cured anyone's cancer or made anyone lose weight or whatever other nonsense. it should be legalized but there's not some deep illuminati conspiracy to keep it illegal.

Those people drive me nuts. I think it should be completely legalized (and taxed and regulated, along with most illegal drugs), but some people are really out in left field with their conspiracy theories as to why it is illegal as well as their astounding beliefs that marijuana is an absolute good, with no harmful effects. There are a bunch of wannabe hippie types where I live who are almost militant with that [expletive].

And as with anything, being [expletive] crazy extreme about a cause only hurts it.
