Is Cincinnati the worst major league city to visit?

Milwaukee has to be in the running there.

The people are the difference. Wisconsinites share more similarities to Chicagoans on the surface, they are more relatable even though we are born to hate them. People from Cincinnati are a weird mutant combination of the north, the south and appalachia.

Yep, it's the Appalachia that gets me. Milwaukee people are fat idiot slobs, but at least they're not basically Kentuckians.

I enjoyed my one summer in Milwaukee when I did my internship...got to get Cubs/Brewers tickets at the door when they were at County Stadium.

But since I've never lived in Chicago, my frame of reference is definitely not the same.

Spent a weekend in Cleveland a few years ago and had a pretty good time. I'm guessing there are far worse cities in MLB, though I've only been to a few so I have little frame of reference.

Beertown may be shocked to hear this, but I'm not sure it's worse than Cincy. I would think Cincy, Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Oakland have to be the only ones in the running right? I know a lot of people hate Houston, but it's not close for me.

ETA: And Detroit

Oakland is definitely not in the running, it's awesome.

I guess it depends on what part of Tampa you're in and why you're there. But at least it's warm and you have the gulf.

I'm not sure how we passed over StL, but it is truly an awful, horrible, terrible, no good city.

Are we talking about which city that has a baseball team is the worst to visit, or which city is the worst to visit for the purpose of going to a game? Going to a "cool" city where the ballpark is in the [expletive] boonies defeats the purpose of going to said cool city in the first place.

Cincy is definitely my pick for the former; re: the latter, it's at least centrally-located and walking distance from the best hotels in town.

Yeah the difference between Cleveland and Cincinnati is significant. Cleveland has culture, has unique things to do, etc.

Cincinnati sort of has that but most of the city is a decaying mess of hills and old buildings. Outside of the modest downtown, there's really nothing, a lot of it looks like has been left untouched since the 60's. There's really nothing you can do in Cincinnati that you can't do in another city.

I haven't been to Oakland proper, just Bay area, and I don't think you can consider it the worst of anything with SF just across the bay.

Also, considering the seasons they play in, I'd throw Phoenix in there as worst cities to visit in MLB. First of off the city is a sprawled out mess with absolutely nothing distinguising it, other than the lack of grass, cacti and moutains in the distance. There are things to do, Scotsdale is nice of course, as is some of the older more established communities in Tempe, but the problem is its pure hell in the summer. It's like the inverse of a Chicago winter but with the same effect...everyone hibernates. Once you've been to Phoenix a couple of times, its really really undesirable IMO.

Eh, I softened on it after I went there for the MVC Tournament/Bachelor party. It's bad, but Cincinnati, blech.

City that happens to contain a baseball team.

I went to Cincy for that terrible game, left at halftime, at least I got home two hours earlier than expected. Spent the night before in Covington KY, it was ok but was like a southern version of Rockford. On the way across the bridge to the Bengals stadium I walked through a tent city (shanty town) of about 100 homeless people, looked like something out of the great depression.

I drove to see the 07 NLC clincher at Cincinnati. I didn't do anything else there but didn't feel like I was missing anything, either.

The absence of Wrigley’s “Bleacher Bums” also has had a calming effect on opposing outfielders accustomed to hearing insults lobbed at them during the course of a game.

“It’s definitely much quieter out there,” Reds left fielder Marlon Byrd said. “You can usually hear the fans in the bleachers yelling stuff at you non-stop. I only heard one guy (from the left field stands) yell 'You’re fat' to me.”

I liked Houston the couple of times I've been there, never been to Oakland, just know its status as white trashville.
