lots of pics/renderings at link

The Cubs have created two new standing-room sections in left field that they are calling "the well," which sits just behind the ribbon video board on the left-field wall, and "the porch," which is under the new video board in left-center, president of business operations Crane Kenney told the Tribune on Monday.

The right-field bleachers, slated to open June 11, will have a porch area behind the benches. There will also be a new concession area in center field called "the platform," which will feature more concession options and wider walkways for fans to navigate.

Does multiple rows of unorganized standing fans in front of the bleachers seats sound like a really bad idea to anybody else?

it does but then other places have similar areas so i dunno

I was trying to picture that, thinking the same thing with at least one stadium out west (Arizona? Colorado?) Isn't it kind of more an open area? This looks like a a compact area that people would be kind of crammed into. I dunno, I guess the views would be terrible if you're not front row, but still...

I am assuming/hoping that it will turn into some kind of brutal fight trench.

I think we should refer to it s the Dong Nest or Dong Den
