It's a shame we don't see reports that Riley Reiff is returning for his senior year, but I can't fault a kid for wanting to get paid a lot of money.

What do you(or other Iowa fans, for that matter) think of him?

He's incredibly solid and consistent. He filled in for Bulaga when he was a freshman, and I don't think anybody really noticed Bulaga was gone. I think he's better than Bulaga was, and pretty close to Gallery.

Not an Iowa fan, but I agree. I think he's clearly better than Bulaga was. And I think he's more polished than Gallery was at this stage. Gallery probably had more natural ability/athleticism at LT, though. I like Reiff better than Jonathan Martin from Stanford, and he's my #2 OT behind Matt Kalil, who I think is somewhere between Joe Thomas and Jake Long as a prospect.

Yeah, I like Rieff more than Jonathan Martin - I think Rieff is a top 10 pick. I'm not sold on Martin being an LT in the NFL.

So far in the last two weeks, I've heard/read from different commentators, you should never draft an:

• offensive lineman in the top 10

• wide receiver in the top 10

• running back in the first round

• tight end in the top 10

• linebacker in the top 10

• safety in the top 15

• most quarterbacks are too risky for the top 15

i hope there's lots of DL and CBs available

What idiots said the bolded? Yes, obviously most QBs are too risky for top 15. There might be 2 each year that are worth it. RBs should go lower, but there are elite talents out there that are worth a 1st round pick, and even a top of the 1st. It's the Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson types that aren't worth top of the 1st picks in this football environment. You really want a dynamic bck there. Not an old fashioned work horse. Top notch offensive tackles should easily go top 10. Elite LB can go there as well.

There are some dumb commentators out there.

The only players I'd pick top 10 are the players who have the elite potential to effect the passing game.

- LT

- DL, has to be a pass rusher extraordinare

- WR, has to have AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, elite size and athleticism

- QB, This is more intangible than anything. QBs obviously have the most effect on the passing game and even guys that don't have elite physical ability can have elite results (Brady, Brees). I'd take a Christian Ponder or Jake Locker over say Justin Blackmon if I had the chance. And I really like Blackmon, but wouldn't pick him top 10. Rather trade down, get a Michael Floyd and extra picks.

I would agree with this. He's definitely more consistent than Bulaga was, not as dominant as Gallery was. He has the frame and build to get bigger/stronger without losing athleticism or quickness. I don't know that he can be an All-Pro LT but he definitely should be a solid LT.

Then again I (nor anyone else really) had any reason to believe Gallery wouldn't be able to stick at LT.

gallery couldn't even stick at rt, which was shocking. has there been a tackle since gallery that's had his hype? probably jake long, I guess.

So you wouldn't take Urlacher again at what, #7? He's a guy who has a tone of effect on the passing game with his ability to cover the new breed of TE.

Urlacher was the 9th pick. In 2000, yes I would have taken him. In 2012, I wouldn't take a LB top 10.

That's just dumb. Young Urlacher is about the only LB who isn't at a huge disadvantage against these TE heavy offenses. And they're only becoming more prevalent.

Ricky Williams is in the same class as Cedric Benson? What? Ricky Williams wasn't just some work horse running back, the dude was dynamic. He was hurt in his first couple years in NO, but still put up respectable numbers. Then in his 3rd year he ran for over 1,200 yards and caught 60 passes for another 500+. Then he got traded to Miami and his first year he combined for over 2,200 yards and 17 TDs. That sounds pretty dynamic to me.

This pisses me off. Don't make the playoffs but only get 3-4 spots ahead of the 2 wildcard teams. Damn, they really shoulda lost that last game.

If Ricky Williams gave a [expletive] he would probably be top 5 in career rushing yards.

If going to be interesting to see what team trades up with how for RG3 or if the Rams try to trade Bradford.
