I know Luck is a foregone conclusion to go to Indy, but if I were the owner I'd think long and hard about RG3 before I made my final decision.

Andrew Luck is a surprisingly great athlete.

I always thought it was hilarious when some analysts would cite RG3's speed and mobility as a reason to take him over Luck, basically implying that Luck was Peyton Manning.

I've never heard anyone that knows what they are talking about question Luck's athletic ability. Honestly, he reminds me of Peyton Manning's brain on Rich Gannon's body. Gannon was one of the best athletes to ever play QB at a high level. Probably only behind Steve Young and Randall Cunningham.

Hill caught 49 balls in 3 years at Georgia Tech. Pass.

Keep the Georgia Tech offense in mind. They don't throw it nearly enough for Hill to build up much of a reception total, especially if he isn't the top target.

While 49 is still a pretty low total even relative to the offense, he did have 28 of those 49 catches his junior season for an average of 29.3 ypc. He also went from 1 to 3 to 5 TD catches each season. Definite signs of improvement as he became the top target in GT's offense.

There's probably a gulf between those who really know, and the general public + media.

I think today will do a lot to reset that impression. There's a ton of talk about RG3's measurables, as there should be. But Luck was also very impressive to me.

You think Luck is a combination of one of the smartest QBs ever with one of the most athletic QBs ever?

That isn't meant to sound snarky. I have no idea. That's just pretty lofty praise.

Yes. The best 3 QB prospects in the history of the NFL draft are probably Elway, Peyton, and now Luck. I don't think Luck is as good as either of them, but he's pretty good. That's not to say that these are or will be the best 3 QBs of all time. Just that they are the 3 biggest sure things ever IMO. That being said, we know Luck's upside is a HOF QB, one of the greatest ever. I'm not saying the Colts should even consider RG3, but the thing I like about RG3 is we don't know what his upside is. He's nearly the athletic specimen that Vick is, but he's got better size. He's a much better pass than Newton was coming out last year. We've seen Vick run for 1000 yards in a season and in the last 2 be on a 4000 yard passing pace if he stayed healthy. We've seen Newton throw for 4000 and lead the league in TD runs as a rookie. What's RG3 going to be if he's capable of Vick's running ability, a better passer than Newton, and a better bet to stay healthy than Vick? That's something the NFL has never seen before.

It's not so much questioning Luck as it is praising Griffin and saying his superior athleticism is a reason to draft him over Luck or that he's the better prospect.

Finally tomorrow the pass rushers work out. I'm extremely hopeful for Vinny Curry to throw up a freak workout simply because everyone likes him but no one wants to call him a first rounder. I will not yet either.

Other guys who I'm hoping they throw into LB drills and see good things from:

Courtney Upshaw

Melvin Ingram

Chandler Jones

Shea McClellan

Vinny Curry

Cam Johnson

Olivier Vernon

Jack Crawford

Jonathan Massaqoui

Quinton Coples

Andre Branch

Whitney Mercilus

Dont'a Hightower (I think he can play 3-4 OLB as well as ILB)

Zac Brown (ILB/LB)

Bradham (ILB/OLB)

That's in no particular order and only the DE/OLB candidates. Oh and Fletcher Cox is a pass rusher but as a DE/DT.

I think you forgot Michael Vick.

I didn't actually forget. I mis-spoke. I meant the best athletic QBs not the best athletes to play QB.

- Not surprised by Blackmon's height. Like someone said, his game just makes it seem like he's 6'4".

- Peter Konz should be the 2nd interior linemen off the board, if not the first. I get the DeCastro hype, he is legit, but Konz is the best C prospect since Mangold.

- Vinny Curry is the man and more LaMarr Woodley than Courtney Upshaw (who I keep hearing compared to Woodley). I thought Curry was going to DeMarcus Ware (solid 2nd turned top 15 pick after a strong offseason) the draft process. Now I think that guy is Fletcher Cox, though he's not going to be a 3-4 OLB as a pro. Cox reminds me of Trevor Pryce a little. Curry will still be a steal for someone and is the second best pass rusher in this draft.

- This is just ridiculous to say, but I think between Mark Barron and George Iloka there is an Adrian Wilson cone. I really like both of these players, and they're really the only two safeties I like for the Jets (though Thomas the Syracuse guy and I'm sure one other guy will make noise).

- If I'm a 3-4 team in the first round I'm looking at Cox, Brockers, Still, and Poe as DEs in that order. I'm also taking a more serious look at both Perry and Curry at 3-4 OLB.

- FINALLY got it with Courtney Upshaw. Believe me, I like the player, but could not stand the hype. Take a step back and realize that his upside is more being a rock at the DE/OLB position than a Ware-esque stud and he makes sense. That said, I still have questions about his athleticism and see him more as a Dwight Freeney-esque 4-3 DE (minus the long arms and 4.4 speed) than a 3-4 OLB. I admit I might be underrating him because of that, but his athleticism doesn't really stand out to me.

Fletcher Cox looked amazing today. Good call on that one.

Thoughts on Whitney Mercilus? The Titans need an elite type pass rusher to put across from Derrick Morgan and I saw Mercilus in one mock draft.

I'm really struggling to keep from getting excited about Dontari Poe - 6'3, 346 with a 4.87 40 and 44 bench reps. That's incredible.

I like Mercilus a lot. The big concern is that he's a 1-year wonder, but I think he has a lot of upside. He has all the measurables. Good size for a 4-3 DE. Good speed. Good quickness. He has long arms and is strong. Looks the part. I don't think he's great right now in the run game, as he lacks awareness, but he knows how to go after the QB and that's what pays the bills in the NFL. Once he gets to the QB, he's one of the best at stripping the ball in the NCAA. He doesn't have the upside of Coples or Perry, but he should be a pretty good DE in the NFL. And I project him to be solid all around.

Thanks. Seeing him mocked to the Titans intrigued me because I knew he was really raw. As much as I like upside, I'd almost prefer somebody a bit more polished, though, since we desperately need help rushing the passer right now - especially if we let Jason Jones walk.

I'd really love Coples, but can't imagine him falling anywhere near 20. Perry would be a terrific pick too if he slid, but I tend to doubt he will.
