If Soler, Almora and Baez are all in Peoria at the same time, I'd either be disappointed in Baez's progress or thrilled at Soler's progress or both.

I think meeting in Daytona or Tennessee is more likely if at all.

Luckily my brother lives in Daytona Beach and is 5 min walking distance to the park.

I asked this one earlier, but I didn't see a response...any idea when any or all of these 3 project to be in Daytona?

Little to zero video on Soler. Potential 70ish power, strong arm, fairly quick for now, body has lots of projection, so he'll slow down. All I've got. Not even sure how his plate discipline or contact skills are for sure, although if I remember, he needs to be better at both.

I've heard he has very good plate discipline for his age. Hit tool (contact) still has questions....and we know about the power. The only numbers i've ever seen on him was for the Cuban national team, maybe 2 years ago? I'm fairly certain his numbers were along the lines of .300/.500/.500.

Just guesses, but I'd say Soler early 2013, Baez early 2013, Almora end 2013/early 2014.

I think my favorite thing about this deal is that they can treat pretty much all 30 million towards this year from an internal accounting perspective, and then if and when Soler makes the MLB roster we'll essentially have him for free through age 29.

I could see them meeting at Peoria. I doubt it ... but I can see the FO perhaps having Baez start in Peoria next year (depends on how he finishes, and fall/spring), and Almora/Soler making it up there. I doubt it (Soler moreso than Almora), but I could see it.

Younger than Soler, and better. RT @ChrissyScaffidi: Miguel Sano hits a grand slam!!

CF and big leaguer, or RF ready for Low-A? Hmmmm. RT @tadowsean: @kevin_goldstein Cespedes or Soler?

I may be in the minority, but I'd take Soler over Cespedes.

Miguel Sano is a top 10 prospect in baseball. That's not really an outrageous claim. I like Soler better than Cespedes too

@BradleyAnkrom: When the (reported) nine-year deal for Soler ends, the Mets will still have 14 more years of paying Bobby Bonilla.

Those current grades almost make him a useful major leaguer right now.

Man... I haven't been back to Peoria ever since Felix Pie was on the team. Looks like I'm due to go back there again.

Just wait until they come to Kane County like I have done.

Edit: Ashamed to admit I went to see Vitters, and watch Chris Archer uncharacteristically walk a bunch of people.

Peoria is closer to me than Kane County or easier to get to anyway. I'm about 30 minutes northwest of West Lafayette, Indiana. My choices are usually either Peoria Chiefs or Indianapolis Indians although I've been to a game at South Bend and Fort Wayne.

Seriously, there are reasons to like Cespedes over Soler, but just the fact that he is a big-league CF is not one of them. I would think that Soler will be in the majors when he is Cespedes' age.

And if you believe bWAR, Cespedes is a big-league CF in name only.

I'd guess Baez early 2013, Almora late 2013/early 2014, and Soler late 2013, but more likely 2014. (positive scenarios obviously). We'll get a clearer picture on possible Soler timelines once we find out if he's headed to Arizona or DSL to start this summer (hard to see him hit Boise, but I guess that can't be ruled out).

I can't help but think we're going to find out that there are escalators or opt-outs (into arbitration, not free agency) built into the deal. I know that it's a huge amount of money for a prospect, so what I'm about to say is relative, but 9/$30M seems like a steal.

Exactly.

Rogers tweeted a bit ago that the contract must have escalators.

So does a 9/30 contract to an international player effectively override any rules in terms of his free agency clock, arbitration increases, etc.? In other words, does this guarantee he will hit free agency after nine years, but also guarantee that he will only be making ~$3M per season even if he turns into a perennial all-star?

One thing I haven't got a sense of is who his best-case MLB comps are. I read Vlad on a board but I feel like his hit and arm would have to improve significantly for that to happen...

Yeah, won't surprise me if there's things we find out later on either. If it's a straight 9/30 deal, then it's a phenomenal way of getting the deal done. It appears to me that Theo and Jed spent the amount of time needed with Soler, to know to structure things in the way he wanted it. I find it hard to believe other teams went about structuring deals this way, because the bidding would have gotten higher, due to the small amount of outlay each year towards overall team payroll.

lol Mets.

On the plus side, by that time they'll only owe Bret Saberhagen for another 8 years.

I'd think there are opt outs based on performance.
