I thought coaches had to inform Penn State if they were interested in recruiting any of the players and then it was up to the players to contact the coaches to start the process. Did I dream that up in my head?

You did. O'Brien said that some coaches have had the courtesy to call him about recruiting, but many have not

No, he didn't.

Permission-to-contact rules are suspended. Penn State cannot restrict in any way a student-athlete from pursuing a possible transfer. Student-athletes must simply inform Penn State of their interest in discussing transfer options with other schools. Before communicating with student-athletes, interested schools also must inform Penn State of their intention to open discussions with the student-athlete.

Thank you

Went to an Illini Bash at Joe's last night, Tim Beckman and Mike Thomas were both in attendance. Beckman was there shaking hands at the entrance, and both were gracious in conversations I had with each. Stupid little things like getting everyone's name that you didn't see from the former regime. These guys really seem to get it. Beckman had the line of the night when asked about Northwestern with a "Who?"

Guenther's doctrine of shunning Chicago is finally over. I wasn't thrilled with Beckman, but he really sounded great in his 10 minutes up there. My Illini hating friend summed him up calling him the coachiest guy he's ever heard, and that works for 17 year olds. Getting mildly excited.

Wide receiver recruit Will Fuller of Philadelphia reiterated his commitment to Penn State on Saturday after speaking with Nittany Lions head coach Bill O'Brien -- as did several other players.

"Yeah, I'm 100 percent going there," Fuller said in a text.

Several Penn State recruits met with O'Brien on Saturday. Among them was tight end Adam Breneman, who said the sentiment applies to several players.

"Yes, we are all 100 percent committed," Breneman said of himself, Fuller, quarterback Christian Hackenberg (Fork Union, Va./Fork Union Military Academy), offensive linemen Brendan Mahon (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and Andrew Nelson (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), and defensive lineman Garrett Sickels (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional).

Hackenberg, the top-rated player headed to the Nittany Lions, No. 16 in the ESPN 150 and No. 1 among pocket-passer quarterbacks, also had positive things to say Saturday via Twitter.

Rob Bolden (junior QB of Penn State) is very interested in transferring to LSU. He's visiting the campus this upcoming weekend.

LSU can have him

Didn't realize Coach Freeze was a 14 year old girl.

yeah that was my reaction - i'm sure he's interested in transferring to LSU, but is LSU really interested in a quarterback who can't start over [expletive] matt mcgloin???

I couldnt remember if Isiah Thomas was the coach of FIU or Central Florida, and was very disappointed to learn he wasn't involved in any of this.

Nice get for USC, though I think that schools that are recently/currently under their own sanctions shouldn't have been allowed to poach

But they are allowed to accept a transfer without sitting out a year. While they are on probation for paying players.

I don't mind Redd leaving, except to this school. Just the NCAA fixing all of the problems of big time college football, I guess!

This comment from Penn State's first post penalty commit cracked me up.

Commenting on not being eligible for postseason play:

"It wasn't even a tough choice," Franklin, a member of the class of 2012 said. "I wasn't going to play in a bowl game anyway if I would have gone I-AA or to New Mexico or Indiana. Plus, it's Linebacker U, and I'm a linebacker."
