Not to get ahead of things, but for the life of me I can't remember how this works. If a Wild Card team plays a division winner with a lesser record, who gets home field? I feel like it's the division champ.

That's the way it's always been, but I don't remember if that rule was changed after 7-9 Seattle got to host the 11-5 Saints last year.

Yes, that's why the Saints went to Seattle last year.

Yeah I believe Wild Cards are locked in at 5th or 6th seeds, thats why the Saints had to travel to Seattle last year even though they were a 7-9 team.

edit: damn, beaten twice.

Did Schwartz even go out there? Lovie was kind of looking around

If he didn't, that's unacceptable. But typical of his team.

It's becoming typical of HIM.

No class.

So...a good fit for the city of Detroit.

chris williams in surgery right now. great.

We're Chicago. You know we can't have anything purely positive happen. There always needs to be the shadow lurking beneath. It's who we are.

god if only carimi didnt have that setback. who steps in? omiyale?

Edwin Williams I'd guess.

That's who played the second half for Chris Williams. [expletive].

Hope Carimi comes back soon so Louis can move inside.

I missed the play when Suh tried (and almost successfully) to rip Cutler's head off and I'm done defending him. He is getting too damn ridiculous and blatant with his excessive violence. And that didn't get a flag either. Ugh.

Now I feel more in line with everyone else saying how justified the Bears were in going after Lions players.

Williams' injury is supposed to be similar to Urlacher's season-ended in 2009.

Well, it's just one more log on the fire that is our OLine. It's a patchwork deal, this just makes it that much more so.

The Bears didn't really do much. Suh ripped Cutler's helmet off. Suh hit Cutler late on the fumble that wasn't recovered. Fairley hit Cutler after the throw and drove him into the ground. Stafford grabbed more by the back of the helmet and threw him to the ground. Only thing the Bears did was DJ Moore retaliated. Briggs' hit was perfectly legal and I would hope he would do that any team he has a chance on any WR. It was cleaner than the hit that took out Bennett for 6 weeks.

Quite weird but if the Bears win a wild card spot it will be their first appearance in Wild Card weekend AND their first road playoff game since 1994.

Is there still going to be angst next year when they pull out the orange jerseys?

Jerseys are jerseys. They are ugly, but whatever.

I don't even think they're ugly.

So they're orange. So what?

They aren't even close to as ugly as, say, those Jets throwbacks.

They're fine. Wear them once a year. No problem with it.

I was re-watching the brawl... I remember seeing some cheap shots from Lions, but I didn't realize how bad it was!

Melton grabbed a Lion and started pulling him out of the pile when about 4 Lions players crowd around him and start punching and kicking him. Then, Tillman tries to break it up, gets pushed on the ground, and they do the same thing to him!

Stafford should be suspended a game for grabbing a player by the head and throwing him to the ground. Heck, he should be suspended a second game for the piss poor lame excuse he used for why he did it during the press conference.

Yes, what was the excuse?

He was asked after the game what started the brawl, and he said something to the effect of Moore was blocking him, so he did something to get Moore out of his way, and apparently Moore took offense to his methods.

EDIT: Here's a direct quote:

"He kind of blocked me and I was just trying to get him off me best I knew how," Stafford said. "And I guess he didn't like the way I did it. He wanted to ask me about it."

What a [expletive] tool

‘‘Discipline for what?’’ coach Jim Schwartz said when asked about his team’s chippy play. ‘‘For their guy getting kicked out of the game? Did Matt get penalized? No, Matt didn’t get penalized. For the unnecessary roughness on the quarterback — Nick Fairley was in contact with the quarterback when he let go of the ball. It wasn’t a late hit. What other ones do you have?’’
