What an amazing game. Yay Bears!

Chargers Oline is beat up pretty badly. Should be able to get to Rivers early and often. Double team Vincent Jackson, glue someone on Gates and then pound the line. The Chargers defense looked horrible against the Raiders, so the offense should be able to score pretty easily.

where's treymon when you need him? Going to be a fantastic opportunity for the Bears coming up, I hope they take advantage.

Apparently, you're in favor of grabbing the helmet and attempting to rip a guy's head off. Which two of your players did during the game.

and chop blocks, too

like i said, i didn't see those plays but i have a suspicion you may be quibbling a bit on the descriptions, considering a brief regrettable foray into the Bears game threads each week brings up countless sulleymon calls for fouls not being called (against only the opponent)

the impartial third party observers in this thread can rightly act as the voice of reason on these plays

Meriweather's cheap shot on Burleson was probably worse than anything that happened in yesterday's game, IMO. However, The Lions definitely are in line for some fines this week, which will probably end all discussion on whether any of these shots were cheap.

I can agree with TT that it was an awkward play and that Suh may not have been purposely trying to rip Cutler's head off. It was a very fast play. However, in a league that is trying to protect QB's, a defensive lineman with a track record of cheap play tackling a QB in such a way that his helmet comes flying off his head probably deserved a 15 yarder at the very least. To not throw a flag on that play gives license to the defense to start headhunting opposing QB's because it's not a penalty.

Stafford's play was probably not entirely on purpose, and I think DJ Moore deserved the ejection for the retaliation. Stafford deserves a small fine. Briggs did nothing wrong on his play. Officials just seem to get a little whistle happy anytime there is a hard hit anymore.

I just saw it as a rivalry with a lot of frustration because nothing seemed to work right for the Lions. Nothing anywhere near as bad as the Packers/Bears rivalry of the past.

Like I said earlier, I'm going to be pretty disappointed now if the Bears aren't 10-4 going into week 16.

So thankful that this will be an afternoon game. Made my flight reservations home and I don't land in Illinois until 12:10pm on Sunday. Should be able to hug mom and dad, say hi to my sister and my new nephew and bolt out the door to secure my seat with my friends by 3pm. I think the afternoon slot works in favor of the Bears, also.

How so? If anything you want the west coast team playing earlier

Weather being colder, maybe?

I'm thinking about the potential change of temperature by halftime when it starts getting dark. Of course, if the weather isn't cold, it won't be an issue.

If it's not going into the 20's, I don't think the relative drop in temperature will have that much of an effect.

cold, damp weather can definitely have an effect to a S California team

Shaun Phillips is supposed to come back this week.

isnt McNeil out? this could be a 13-9 type of game

Doesn't appear as though weather will be an issue, with the early forecast in the mid 60's and possible rain.

Brandyn Dombrowski allowed 4 sacks and another 10 pressures, mostly to Kamerion Wimbley, last week and had a similarly nightmarish day against Chris Clemons last season (2 sacks, 16 pressures) when forced into duty

if McNeill is out, the Chargers probably haven't a prayer of beating a team with a competent pass rush

The Fairley hit wasn't an attempt to injure? That one was the cheapest and most egregious in my opinion. Late hit and he drove Cutler's body into the ground with all of his weight on top. That's how QBs get hurt all the time.

then every sack is an attempt to injure!

the Fairley play was way late, and the one dirty play i've seen from the game on our part, but attempt to injure seems like a major stretch

The Suh thing was definitely dirty, but i only remember two "chop blocks" and only one was actually an illegal play, and even that was extremely close.

the one that was called, the detroit center (i believe) dove at someone's legs before the guy was occupied, but when he got to the guy, he had just gotten tangled up. It was the right call, but not particularly dirty.

There was another one a few minutes later, but it was a legal play, the dude just got his legs taken out.

he was probably cut-blocking all game, which isn't dirty, but i bet there were more instances of those cut blocks turning into chop blocks that nobody noticed. i don't care, like you said the second one wasn't dirty, i was just going along with the outrage.

Where do you see that? Weather.com shows a high of 49 next Sunday.
