Looks like Theo watched Little Big League a time or four while he was in limbo between jobs.

That article is all kinds of awesome.

"Now you've taken the bat out of the hands of our 3, 4 and 5 hittters. Not exactly a great trip through the heart of our order."

Here is a little insight into the interview process that Theo and Jed are going to do. Really cant imagine this being a part of Hendrys process. Good stuff

It's awesome, but isn't it common sense? I'm shocked all teams don't do this? When you go for a job interview they always throw you real world problems to see how you would handle it. At least they do in the tech world.

EDIT: Remember the days the Cubs would give managers mental evaluation tests! LOL!

Yes, it's pretty common practice. That said, we're coming off a breakup and everything this new guy does...There's probably a mental/psych eval of some kind too.

Front runner already? Isn't there like a handful of people left to interview?

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times writes that Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux "seems to be a front-runner" for the Cubs' vacant managerial position.

Not only does Maddux appear to be the favorite for the job, but, if he's hired, he could bring in his brother, Greg, as part of his coaching staff. Greg was a special adviser to GM Jim Hendry last season, and president of baseball operations Theo Epstein last week invited him to return to the organization. The future Hall of Famer has been hesitant to return to baseball full-time due to family reasons but reportedly could change his mind if his brother is hired by the Cubs.

I don't think Greg will be a pitching coach. I think he's quite comfortable where he is.

I've heard a lot of Chicago media stumble over pronunciation, as well, which seems ridiculous. He's twice been a manager of big league clubs, you would think the guy is well-known enough that sports media should know his name. It's Mc-Cannon.

Original Bad News Bears says hi.

Though the Billy Bob Thorton remake travesty is wanting to hide.

Media still says Urlacher (rhymes with linebacker, not locker) incorrect, and Robbie Gould as well. It doesn't surprise me that they'd mess up a guy that's never been a manager.

He's twice been an interim manager at the end of lost seasons for crap teams. He's not Joe Torre.

Also, Chicago people have all kinds of issues with pronunciation.
