Everyone ok with pretending this never happened?

As far as I'm concerned, Not The Cubs won the World Series for the 102nd consecutive time. I don't care which flavor of NTC it was.

Isn't it 103rd consecutive time?

103 years, but only 102 WSes.

I just keep telling myself that 3 or 4 years down the road the Cubs will have a completely restocked organization and financial resources that St. Louis can never match. Enjoy it while you can Cardinals.

No team should be able to make up their own rainouts either just because it's convenient for them. LaRussa had to get Carp another start in the World Series so that's what he did.

Didn't you see Bull Durham ;)

Oh great, TLR piling on the Cubs.

What did he say?

"There was a Saturday night when we were down 1-0 to Chicago, and these fans helped us come back. That turned our season around!"

Really how do you take credit for facing a guy who couldn't throw strikes?

Cubs offseason plan:

Sign Albert Pujols

Sign Todd Helton so he can play OF and have a .950 OPS

Bring up Brian LaHair and Lou Montanez to be our Jay and Craig

Make Scott Moore our 3B so he can get hits in every single key situation in the playoffs

World Series

NO!

NONONONONONO! NO!

There's no way they win it all with Moore out there. Make it Marquez Smith and it's a sure thing!

When the Cubs win the World Series, I hope they play the Cardinals in the NLCS and the beat the [expletive] [expletive] out of those [expletive] bastards!

And then LaRussa chokes on his own vomit

The difference between now and 2006 is significant in a good way. Yes the Cardinals winning the fluke title hurts in both cases but man oh man, the future of the Cubs looks so much better by comparison now so let the Cards enjoy selling their souls in exchange for eternal damnation once again, Theo is the light and the way and he will make this [expletive] right soon enough!

Winning a world series is a big deal. I can't believe all this "wait till Theo gets 'em!" talk. The Cardinals just put another one on the scoreboard and it [expletive] sucks. Chances are still good that Theo never wins one with the Cubs.

It's close. From what he's said, he intends to be here for about 10 years. I expect to make the playoffs at least 6 or 7 times in that period. So maybe not better than 50% of winning a WS, but in that ballpark.

Yeah, two shitty Cardinals teams win World Series while their 100-win teams never did. The Cubs 97-win team didn't win a game in the playoffs. Sure, we'll likely make a lot of playoffs going forward but it doesn't guarantee [expletive].

Only the Cardinals can lose Wainwright and Rasmus for any reason and still win the World Series. Here's to the Cardinals playing in their last World Series game for at least a decade. Those bastards deserve to have a drought.

Okay, according to my calculator, assuming a 1/8 chance of winning the WS each time you make the playoffs, Theo just needs to make the playoffs 6 time to have a >50% chance of winning the WS at least once with the Cubs.

I'm going to say it, then. It is probable that Epstein wins a WS with the Cubs.

YES YES YES ENCOURAGEMENT BOOM

Kyle, the point is that no one should be shocked if the Cubs don't win one is in Theo's tenure. We do everything right, scratch, claw, etc. maybe we get neck and neck with the Cards in the next decade on # of titles won. I just want this century and my sentient adult years to be on a relatively equal footing, kinda like Boston fans can say about the Yanks.

The White Sox are a [expletive] organization run by [expletive].

The Cardinals are a storied franchise worthy of respect. They represent the National League very well.

Clearly someone who doesn't live amongst their fanbase, which makes them all the more unbearable.

I hope StL loses their fruity little domed football team that they don't even care about anyway

They would still have 11 World Series championships. And as many Super Bowls as the Bears. It's stupid.
