Sorry, this isn't Bears related but since we were discussing Bill Simmons, and I am obsessed with picking him apart:

And isn't the state of Tennessee overdue for some good sports news?

You mean other than the Grizzlies winning their first ever playoff game and series and coming 1 win from the WCF. Also the Preds won their first ever playoff series and played Detroit tough in the 2nd round. Finally, Bruce Pearl got fired. So no Bill, Tennessee has had enough good sports news over the last 4 frickin months.

By pick apart, do you mean, support his argument?

No. OK the Bruce Pearl thing was a joke. I'm guessing the people of Tennessee probably wanted him to stay there. Then you can add in Memphis going to the National title game 3-4 years ago instead of the Bruce Pearl thing. Plenty of good news already flowin through Tennessee. Certainly not overdue for some.

He's probably specifically referring to the Pat Summitt thing. And the Bruce Pearl thing, while deserved, isn't necessarily good news for the state of Tennessee.

I hope the NFL has the sense to donate the money to some worthy cause that benefits the people/families that were victims of 9/11. Or just not be stupid enough to actually fine anybody who wears them.

The NFL and NFLPA is going all out and donating a million dollars. The average NFL franchise is worth a billion and they just signed a MNF contract worth like 2 billion a year. Nice of them to dig so deep.

I think that's not a very justifiable complaint. It's not like this is the only thing they donate to. It's not like individual players and owners don't donate on their own, to this and other causes.

I get it. Just pisses me off that stuff like this even has to "OK'd." Urlacher can't wear gloves in a nod to little Johnny from down the street who has cancer without being fined 5K.

I don't see what the fuss is about. They wear uniforms. They collectively bargain how the league will be run, the NFL protects it's brand because it's worth billions of dollars and the players benefit significantly from how well the NFL has been run over the decades. They did ok it. So what's the big deal to be pissed off about?

The thing to get pissed off about is that manufacturers like Reebok make this stuff for players to wear, surely knowing that they aren't allowed to wear it, and the resulting threaten of fines gives them free publicity when the media starts reporting that the NFL is going to fine players who wear 9/11 tribute gloves in games.

Damn you are probably right about the Summitt thing. I am trying too hard to rip on him I guess. I just get this impression that he thinks he's a genius with these ideas he comes up with and more often than not you can catch him contradicting himself or flatout ignoring something that disproves what he says. I went overboard this time though.

Corey Wooten and Sam Hurd are questionable for Sunday.

Briggs, Steltz, Conte, Bell, K. Davis, Mannelly, A Adams are all probable.

And Lovie announced officially that Barber is out.

I have some anxiety about getting invested in this team. Once again i believe they are a contender but i just dont like the first 3-4 games of season so i am a bit pessimistic. After watching the first 4 games of last years preseason was very down on the defense and bought into the cutler offense needed to carry that team, so wrong for the first half of that season. I really like this defense front 7 and could even expand that to the safties this year. I love Jay Cutler, love his talent, im still hopeful his talent can translate what he did in denver what he should be able to do in Chicago. To me, this is because...well i love Cutlers talent so much, this team is a SB contender with a solid Oline.

I would love a win against Atlanta. This would be a great one.

Not yet a believer in the Bears, but a victory this Sunday would be super sweet.

I'm so sick of hearing about the Falcons in the media and how great they're going to be. Don't go out on a limb people. They were only the number 1 seed last year.

Yeah, all NFC teams not called the Packers, Eagles, Falcons, and Saints should just give up. And oh yeah, let's not forget the darkhorse Detroit Lions. Do they still count as a darkhorse if everyone is picking them?

Thankfully, the pundits are usually wrong with their preseason predictions.

Oh how sweet it would be to destroy the Falcons.

Falcons center Todd McClure is out for Sunday. He had started 144 consecutive games coming into this year.

Potentially a huge injury. Hawley © and Reynolds (RG) have combined for 19 NFL games and 0 starts. Reynolds has only played in 1 regular season game other than special teams. And he was pretty bad in preseason from all reports, winning the job based on his upside. Melton and Okoye will see them all day, and they both have looked great getting after the QB this preseason. Throw in Peppers vs. Sam Baker, and I like our chances up front. Baker has been getting progressively worse after a strong start to his career. He has only seen Peppers 1 time, and held him sackless, but I like Pep this week.
