A few initial thoughts on the great win:

-J Webb is going to be the most criticized of the offensive line, but Gabe Carimini was bad too. Obviously, he's gonna improve as it was his first game, but both tackles need to be better.

-The d-line was fantastic today.

-I don't know if Charles Tillman gets the respect he deserves.

-I thought Martz called a pretty good game today. But, I'd still like to see Cutler being put into less vulnerable positions when the game is out of reach. The pick six was totally unnecessary, as well as Cutler scrambling with 1 minute left in the game.

Agreed at all points. The pick-6 was extremely frustrating since it was so unnecessary (plus the pressure put Cutler in harms way while the Bears were up 24 in the 4th).

Carimi was bad but I figure there will be tons of improvement from him as he has the talent and this was his first NFL game. Webb, on the other hand, is what he is. And he was worse than Carimi today.

Charles Tilman played an absolutely fantastic game today. Can't say enough about his performance. Carimi was definitely struggling, especially in the first half. The rest of the line actually looked pretty decent overall.

That new FB did had himself a nice game too. I saw him down the field during a couple longer runs making blocks. I like what I see.

I like that Sanzenbacker (however its spelled) got involved in the game too and even got a play called for him, even if it didnt work out (end around).

Does Tillman usually cover the slant like he did today? I'm wondering if it's a skill he has or if something was caught in the film room.

I'm not as down on Webb as many are, mostly because he just turned 23 and his body is so freakish. He should get better, but I hope Cutler doesn't get hurt while he's learning the ropes.

Bears 31, Falcons 10. Go big or go home.

Plus it'll give a chance for fans on both teams to overreact wildly to a single result.

You rule.

That game ruled, damnit, I'm starting to feel better about this season. Cutler looked really good. The O-line was bad, (the tackles/tight ends especially) but not bad enough to truly hurt Cutler. The defense played well, and most impressively and importantly the defensive line played really well.

Damnit. Now if you can take 1 of the next 2, you are off to a very good start to the season. Damnit. Don't make this 2002 all over again and have a strong start after a good, but luck-aided season and then collapse. Do not do this to me.

Historically the Bears have had a lot of trouble against the slant. I don't know where that came from, but I like it.

lol I am going through Bill Barnwell's twitter. Bears fans were railing on him.

RT @maxjusttyped: So how about the #Bears being the worst team in the NFL, again?

Enjoy that jinxing, Bears fans.

@

@lukeisamazing Amazing thing is that I never said the Bears would be the worst team in football.

@tomes521 Among the worst and "the worst" are two very different things, you know.

Falcons safeties having a nightmare game. William Moore just shook by Devin Hester, and after another player slipped, down to the 1.

RT @gkazmer: So the Bears must be getting lucky again, eh professional writer? Expect a 2,000-word story when they make the playoffs.

Awesome thing is that if Falcons were stomping Bears, Falcons fans would be saying the same stuff.

RT @michiganling: I think it's perfectly reasonable to make assumptions about a season based on the results of 3/64s of said season.

Breaks keep going the Bears' way. RT @BradBiggs: #Bears WR Roy Williams out for the game with a groin injury

Trying to predict most things in the NFL is ridiculous.

Most of the time. How many people had the Cowboys and Vikings going far last year?

Until this year when he got ruled out because of the neck injury putting Peyton's Colts in the playoffs was a safer bet than US Treasury Bonds

I thought Webb outplayed Carimi until the holding calls in the 2nd half. Both OTs were below average. Really the only players that I would give a below average grade to today. But both will get better. Webb improved as the year went on last year, he will again. Carimi definitely will.

I didn't see anyone running over Garza or Williams. How'd they do?

Williams missed 1 block and Forte was stoned for a 4-yard loss by Abraham, but other than that, they were great. Really impressed with Spencer who played most of the game at RG. Babineaux is a pretty good player that got nothing done today.

FYI. Henry Melton's stat line today was:

5 tackles, 2 sacks, 7 qb hurries

7 of the 11 hits on Ryan.

Why would you put an average player on an average defense on the cover of SI?

I don't know why you don't put Ryan or Roddy on the cover (or both) but Curtis Lofton is hardly average.

Falcons center Todd McClure is out for Sunday. He had started 144 consecutive games coming into this year.

Potentially a huge injury. Hawley © and Reynolds (RG) have combined for 19 NFL games and 0 starts. Reynolds has only played in 1 regular season game other than special teams. And he was pretty bad in preseason from all reports, winning the job based on his upside. Melton and Okoye will see them all day, and they both have looked great getting after the QB this preseason. Throw in Peppers vs. Sam Baker, and I like our chances up front. Baker has been getting progressively worse after a strong start to his career. He has only seen Peppers 1 time, and held him sackless, but I like Pep this week.

I hate to toot my own horn, but I called this [expletive]! Melton was the best player on the field today. Peppers was a close 2nd. Urlacher a close 3rd. I was fairly confident in this game. I don't know why people, Bears fans included, won't admit that this is a good team. Still not without flaws, but this is the most talented offensive team the Bears have ever had in franchise history at the skilled positions.

I have been on board with this team. I predicted they would win the division again. I picked the Bears with my first week Suicide Pool pick. I am absolutely stoked about the front line on defense. I know that once they are clicking on all cylinders, the rest of the defense will have much easier jobs. Knowing the offensive line couldn't play worse than they did last year, the improvement there is almost a guarantee to make the offense better. I'm so happy to see how well they played today and hope they can keep it up. Pressure on Brees next week while they play without Colston is a good thing. Great game.

can someone give me a description of that play? the int?

well cutler tried to throw it to his man but another man got the ball and ran the whole way down the other direction

Reporter: "Can you tell us about the interception?"

Urlacher: "Oh man, it was crazy.....He threw it, and I caught it."

Dudes. We actually looked pretty damn good today.

1st game, too. We came ready to lay a beat down.

This was a great day. I'm a happy Bear fan right now. This was great!

It was a very good game, it was nice to see pressure come from the DTs and the O-line did pretty well. I agree with Raw that both OTs played below avg and since the Gs and Garza played well it allowed more one on one blocking on the inside. The Bears controlled bot lines of scrimmage and the turnovers.
