Finally caught the replay of Forte's TD off the screen. He looked good, really agile. Sliced through the defense like a box cutter.

This was a win that I didn't expect. Atlanta was a solid team last year and they got better in the offseason. With the tough schedule the Bears have early on, it was a good early win.

this was domination, we [expletive] them in the ass.

Who did you pick in today's game?

After watching them today -- especially that OLine -- I'm not sure they really did.

Seems like they are a little like us in that respect. They have issues up front and it doesn't look like they addressed them.

The O-line has been about as bad as the D-line has been good.

Personally I though the Bears OL played pretty well overall. Giving up a few sacks is almost expected with a Mike Martz offense due to the deep drops and I thought Cutler had adequate time to throw the ball more often than not. It wasn't a perfect game for the OL by any means but if they keep playing at the same level as today, I think things will be okay. Atlanta is a pretty decent pass rushing DL too from what I understand.

Yeah the Falcons gave up too much for Julio Jones and that hurt their ability to solidify their overall team. Julio might end up being a hell of a WR but the short-term gains are not going to justify the cost of that trade.

ryan is not cutler, nor is abraham the same as peppers. plus, our d-line has gottn much better.

major wright needs to sit, though.

Yeah I don't have too many major complaints about the OL today.

Their center was out today. We'll see how the line looks when he is back. I still think they are better with the additions of Jones and Edwards.

I thought the Jones pickup was perfect. They needed another speedy WR to stretch the field. But for some reason the OC didn't call anything deep all game. Wasn't that the point of giving 5 guys for Jones?

Well, how often can you throw the ball deep to him if the QB doesn't have time to throw it? ;)

The problem is that they needed to trade 5 guys to draft him. No speed receiver is worth that much unless the rest of your team is perfectly aligned which obviously Atlanta has other issues too.

Falcons center Todd McClure is out for Sunday. He had started 144 consecutive games coming into this year.

Potentially a huge injury. Hawley © and Reynolds (RG) have combined for 19 NFL games and 0 starts. Reynolds has only played in 1 regular season game other than special teams. And he was pretty bad in preseason from all reports, winning the job based on his upside. Melton and Okoye will see them all day, and they both have looked great getting after the QB this preseason. Throw in Peppers vs. Sam Baker, and I like our chances up front. Baker has been getting progressively worse after a strong start to his career. He has only seen Peppers 1 time, and held him sackless, but I like Pep this week.

I hate to toot my own horn, but I called this [expletive]! Melton was the best player on the field today. Peppers was a close 2nd. Urlacher a close 3rd. I was fairly confident in this game. I don't know why people, Bears fans included, won't admit that this is a good team. Still not without flaws, but this is the most talented offensive team the Bears have ever had in franchise history at the skilled positions.

A few initial thoughts on the great win:

-J Webb is going to be the most criticized of the offensive line, but Gabe Carimini was bad too. Obviously, he's gonna improve as it was his first game, but both tackles need to be better.

-The d-line was fantastic today.

-I don't know if Charles Tillman gets the respect he deserves.

-I thought Martz called a pretty good game today. But, I'd still like to see Cutler being put into less vulnerable positions when the game is out of reach. The pick six was totally unnecessary, as well as Cutler scrambling with 1 minute left in the game.

They'll need to get Ryan more time if they hope to utilize Jones to his fullest, although obviously it's great to have a guy like that available.

It's week 1. I'm sure they will improve. They're probably still at least a contender to make the playoffs, if not a conference contender.

Agreed at all points. The pick-6 was extremely frustrating since it was so unnecessary (plus the pressure put Cutler in harms way while the Bears were up 24 in the 4th).

Carimi was bad but I figure there will be tons of improvement from him as he has the talent and this was his first NFL game. Webb, on the other hand, is what he is. And he was worse than Carimi today.

I'm not saying that they won't be a contender but this was a 13-3 team a year ago and they trade 5 guys for Jones? I just don't see him being worth it no matter how you cut it.

Charles Tilman played an absolutely fantastic game today. Can't say enough about his performance. Carimi was definitely struggling, especially in the first half. The rest of the line actually looked pretty decent overall.

That new FB did had himself a nice game too. I saw him down the field during a couple longer runs making blocks. I like what I see.

I like that Sanzenbacker (however its spelled) got involved in the game too and even got a play called for him, even if it didnt work out (end around).
