Haha...Rosenbloom begrudgingly gives Ricketts credit, while still insulting him as much as possible. And is still mad that Kenney is around.

Talk is cheap. Ricketts should have pulled the trigger months ago. Why the delay until now?

Kenney needs to go too. The guy is a bean counter, not a baseball guy. I don't want him anywhere near an evaluation of anyone.

I'm not as up on some of the GM prospects as some are, but I always thought the Twins organization has done a very good job of evaluating talent with a limited payroll. I got no horse in the race, just want the best person for the job.

Yeah, why is Clown Kenney being retained? According to Boars and Bernstein on the Score, Kenney thinks of himself as a baseball executive and will be a part of the GM hiring process. What real GM will want to work for the Cubs if Kenney involves himself with the baseball operations???

Lol what does Crane Kenney even do that inspires so much anger? Exist?

Something about the name Crane Kenney that makes one want to punch him in the face.

It is kind of a dumb name but most Couldnt pick the guy out of a lineup of white men in ties, let alone tell us what he does.

He's a leftover from the Tribune ownership, so I think that's part of it. The other part is that I believe he admitted that he came into this role having little knowledge of baseball, specifically baseball ops.

Good thing his job has little to do with baseball.

Most people don't realize that. And according to whatever was posted on the last page, if true, he sees himself as a baseball executive.

I think you are misunderstanding. Hendry had a quote today that said part of the reason he didn't make any moves at the deadline is because he didn't think it was fair to the next guy to make those moves at the deadline so he left the roster mostly intact.

Gotcha. Classy move on his part. Now it's Randys turn to make said moves. I really don't wan't Spetember to roll around with Pena, Johnson, and Grabow on the roster. Moving Wood for value would be a bonus. With Flaherty and LaMahieu waiting in the wings, there's also no reason for both of Jeff Baker and Blake DeWitt on the team.

Moving Z and/or Soriano would pretty huge, but if either of those happen, I suspect it will be in the offseason.

He's a Trib lawyer who thinks he's a baseball executive. What quality prospective GM will work for the Cubs if Kenney is going to try to meddle himself in baseball decisions?

I may have missed it over the course of 15 pages or whatever, but how does everybody feel about Rick Hahn?

I'd like him, however, it's not that out of the question that Kenny Williams job isn't as safe as he would like, and the Sox could try to hang on to him.

Stolen from BTF: Jim Hendry winds up with the 2nd best record of any Cubs GM.

Isn't this misleading?

How long have baseball executives/decision-makers been referred to as general managers?

Apparently since 1934 for the Cubs.

Ok, so GMs didn't exist in our most successful era...

COINCIDENCE!?!!?

I propose a COLLEGE OF GMS!

Might as well close the thread, nothing is topping that.

Yeah, me too.

It's pretty much a given that he's the dream hire. I'd be on board with Hahn, Ng or Preller too.

Mark Shapiro and Paul DePodesta are two guys I know who've admitted the same thing.

Kenney isn't a GM or even baseball ops FO guys like those guys are...
