Stolen from BTF: Jim Hendry winds up with the 2nd best record of any Cubs GM.

Isn't this misleading?

How long have baseball executives/decision-makers been referred to as general managers?

Jim Hendry is also the only Cubs GM who was given a bottomless check book or even the opportunity to build any kind of team, so yeah, he damn well better have had a better record than Jim Frey and Ed Lynch.

Settle down.

Apparently since 1934 for the Cubs.

Around 1940 was the first GM.

Ok, so GMs didn't exist in our most successful era...

lol. 75+ years of GM's sucked. That's kinda the point.

Haha...Rosenbloom begrudgingly gives Ricketts credit, while still insulting him as much as possible. And is still mad that Kenney is around.

Talk is cheap. Ricketts should have pulled the trigger months ago. Why the delay until now?

Kenney needs to go too. The guy is a bean counter, not a baseball guy. I don't want him anywhere near an evaluation of anyone.

I'm not as up on some of the GM prospects as some are, but I always thought the Twins organization has done a very good job of evaluating talent with a limited payroll. I got no horse in the race, just want the best person for the job.

We did that with MacPhail.

I realize that but you can't deny the talent they have had up there.

Also, is this news big enough to assume that the citizens of Williston, ND are going to be reading a lot about the Cubs this week? Or will they instead be more focused on Alex Smith?

Ken Rosenthal seems to think Ramirez's is an example of an awful contract Hendry gave out.

Rosenthal must be the biggest idiot in the history of the world then. Seriously, when did this ARam hate really get into the mainstream? The guy has one bad season after badly dislocating his shoulder and all the sudden he's public enemy number 1 in the media. WTF

Apparently Jim Hendry is really upset about this....

You know how I know!??!

I went to the Dunkin Donuts on Addison and they were completely sold out of all donuts. Get it...because Hendry is fat and likes donuts?

Wow! Best of luck Jim. Time tommove forward.

Good work Mr. Ricketts.

Ricketts could wait a couple of months to see if guys like Cashman, Friedman or the Dodgers’ Ned Colletti become available. But there’s no need to do that.

Picking Colletti would be the Cubbiest move I could possibly imagine.

I sent him a very angry tweet saying as much.

Not sure how I feel about this, especially keeping guys like Pena around when he is more useful to us traded for prospects. Oh well, I'd rather stand pat at the deadline and make all those draft signings, than trade pena and others for pennies and not end up signing guys like Maples.

As far as current heads of state go, only Friedman and Cashman interest me. It is doubtful we get either, so I am pulling for a newbie with nice credentials. I don't really know much about those guys, but the assistant in Boston and Texas look interesting on the surface.

That'll teach him!
