The Cubs offense scored 1 F'in run and this idiot focuses on a flyball that was lost in the sun? Then he compounds it by implying the veterans are playing good? How much more embarassment is Tom Ricketts willing to endure. This team is the laughingstock of baseball. Whether it makes a difference or not, you fire Quade today and let Listach manage the team the rest of the year. Or better yet, make Hendry manage them since he put this crap together.

Jim Hendry in a uniform would be hilarious. Would MLB permit the use of a jazzy mobility scooter for mound visits?

Enough already. It was nice of the Cubs to give this guy a shot, but what is it going to take to get 40 freaking wins?

Starling Castro and Darwin Barney getting criticized? And he is still trotting Alfonso Soriano in to Major League baseball games?

I think the concensus is that 45% of baseball fans have more sense than Quade is showing. Soriano in Left Field is conceding. To hell with his pride. Let him earn his money on the bench and get ML caliber players out there.

Why no criticism for Soriano? What excuses for the losses now? Ramirez is on fire, Pena is hitting, it isn't cold.

Quade's job is to manage. He isn't doing it.

Exactly who should he be replaced with?

I took that as a follow up to the Castro and Barney get ripped for missing a ball in the sun........, but Soriano is still in left field.

Soriano is getting paid a lot of money are there aren't any viable replacements anyway. Quade is a tool, but people need to get over the Soriano thing. Barring a miracle, he's our starting LF for the next few years.

I think the Cubs should have brought in a more experienced major league pitching coach after Rothschild left. It's clear Quade cannot handle the rigors of dealing with the pitching aspect of the game.

It's somewhat similar to Lovie's first coaching staff, which had very little NFL coaching experience. Nothing wrong with going with a guy like Quade, but you should probably have more legit coaches on the staff.

The complete bed crapping of this pitching staff kind of validates some of Silva's diatribe this spring.

I wouldn't say few years. Probably the rest of this year, maybe most of next year. But by 2013 I'd be shocked if he was close to an everyday guy on this team. It won't take much to validate a benching and/or release.

Who are we replacing Soriano with now?

Colvin. ;)

Colvin is actually not a bad platoon idea. Soriano's splits are terrible, but he's still hitting lefties.

Colvin can sub for him on defense in the late innings.

Brian LaHair is hitting well.

The arguement with Soriano is pretty much that you need to ignore the money hes making. I suspect for the next few years, he'll hit between .255-.265 and OPS in the low, maybe mid .800s with 20some home runs. While those arent 18 mil/year numbers, thats production wont be cheap to replace, so as long as you have to pay him ayway, it should be for us. Of course, if we could find a sucker, Id pawn him in a heartbeat, so long as were not stuck picking up an equally bad contract attached to a worse player.

What makes you think Soriano will OPS in the mid .800s? His OPS the last 3 years has been .726. .818, and .736 (so far in 2011) and he's getting older. We'll be lucky to get .750 out of him.

Ignore the money he is making, ignore the complete lack of ability in LF, and ignore the .226 BA/.267 OB against RHP in 2011.

I feel bad for Soriano, but I feel worse for the Cubs pitchers that have him defending LF. $18 million is a LOT of money, and expectations...... I'm sorry guys. I'm just as frustrated as the rest of you.

No, he's really not. He makes some moronic mistakes from time to time (the irony of people defending Castro so passionately yet seemingly wanting Soriano executed after the same thing happened to him in Pittsburgh a few seasons back is hilarious), but all in all he's a perfectly capable LF.

I think maybe next year Colvin/Soriano makes sense. It's not like Colvin has been raking this year and I'd rather he play everyday through the end of the AAA season before putting him into a platoon situation.

As for assuming Soriano will OPS over 800, that's a terrible idea.

Actually you are noticing an irony that doesn't exist. People are blasting Quade for his idiotic statements, not defending Castro. The problem is Quade would never do the same thing to a person like Soriano but he has repeatedly called out Castro.

Soriano isn't perfectly capable. He's not as bad as some paint him, but he's a problem. If he could hit you could easily ignore that problem, but he hasn't hit worth a crap either.

Moronic mistakes like what? His routes to balls? His fear of walls? Mistakes are one thing, playing like your ass is on fire is another.

We have all heard about how hard a worker Soriano is, but at the end of the day the "proof is in the pudding." When is the last time you saw Soriano run through a wall, or lay out for a ball? Think Reed Johnson, who is 3x the fielder Soriano is JUST because he will hurt himself for his pitchers.

Capable, ok. Maybe I'm being a little harsh. There is a reason he is lifted in the late innings. You know that.

Running through the wall would be a terrible idea, as would trying to replicate Reed Johnson.
