"It's a fastball. It moves."

 That is pretty much the definition of a cutter, Dan.

Being so against cutters I assume he knows what one is, but he's saying a fastball that moves isn't a cutter, I want to know what he thinks a cutter is/does.

It appears as though Jackie Bradley Jr will start the season with the Red Sox.

That's crazy. Where is he gonna play? They have Victorino and Ellsbury already not hitting for any power in that outfield.

I can't imagine him being up without getting major at bats. My guess is he gets strong side of a platoon, with Gomes taking the small side. Their OF is versatile, they'll move some guys(not Gomes) into different spots when necessary.

I have to think its a PR move. Trying to generate some semblance of ticket sales, because with them going nowhere this year, there's no reason at all not to keep him down until they get the extra year of control.

I think Gomes is starting the year on the DL and that played a pretty big role in the decision to start him with the MLB team.

I remember reading that the Red Sox only had to leave Bradley down 9 days or something to get the extra year of control.

The Padres' A-ball affiliate (Ft. Wane TinCaps) have a loaded rotation: Joe Ross, Max Fried, Walter Weickel and Zach Eflin will all be starting.
