Offensive SS, will likely get moved off of the position. Contact issues and plus power. Intriguing pick. High ceiling, low floor.

Okay, somebody sell me on this guy.

 

Agile MIF who profiles best at 2B, where he should be above average defensively. Aggressive approach, developing power, still room left to grow.

 

He has a good upside, but it'll take him some time to get there.

His high school coach compares him to Hanley Ramirez...boy do I wish. Sounds like a pro offensive player that can switch to 3B or possibly catcher. Hope he can be a quick sign.

The Cubs took high school infielder Javier Baez ninth in the draft.

It's hard not to wonder if the Cubs were disappointed to see Lindor go one pick earlier. Baez may have at least as much upside, but he's more of a project with his subpar plate discipline. He should have the power to play third if he's never able to push Starlin Castro off shortstop.
