San Jose beats Detroit 4-3 in OT to go up 3-0 in that series.

So we've got one series that's already been a sweep and two more which are 3-0.

Only Vancouver-Nashville have both teams won a game in the series.

Tampa Bay up 2 goals in the 3rd period looking for the sweep.

EDIT: And Tampa completes the sweep. Can't say I saw that coming.

I'm sure most Caps fans will say they did.

Gotta wonder if Boudreau will be fired. 4 straight divs, 2 straight conferences, and not making to even the conf. final in those years? Somethings probably going to change.

[expletive] DETROIT

all that trash tlaking wings fans did throughout the summer and throughout the season, and ultimately they were only slightly better than the hawks this year (despite massive injuries and under-achieving from the hawks)

I dont want to get into a pissing match with you, but Detroit had some massive injury issues themselves. I find meatball Red Wings fans about as annoying as I find meatball Hawks fans. I was glad the Hawks made the playoffs, because I didn't want the dumb Wings fans to be right.

On a different subject, in the last 2 years the Wings and Sharks have played 7 one goal games in the playoffs including 4 OT games, and the Sharks have won them all. Even if you could say the Sharks were better in all 7 games, you would think just by pure chance the Wings would have lucked one or two out. For a team that chokes and gets unlucky in the playoffs, they sure seem to be lucky and clutch against the Wings.

the idea that the hawks suffered "massive injuries" is also a joke. their top defensemen and forwards missed very little time. injuries to their depth guys sure, but every team suffers problems like that.

according to this article, the hawks had the third-fewest man games lost with about 10 games remaining in the season.

Yeah, I never understood that train of thought either. It's the NHL -- every team suffers bumps and bruises along the way. The Hawks were relatively healthy for most of the year, all things considered.

Were they worn out from the long season last year? Yes, more than likely. But I don't attribute the Hawks disappointing season to injuries.

thats a pretty useless article considering it doesnt show the quality of players that were missed.

a quote firectly from that article

There are obvious limitations to these figures, as they don’t quantify who exactly is injured. Sidney Crosby missing a half season for the Pittsburgh Penguins counts the same as a fourth-liner being out for the New York Islanders.

this is embarrassing.

it would be a useless article if it were written by cubbiebum. i looked up information about man games missed, and this was (without much research) the most recent article i can find. so i used the information from this article, combined with a listing of the hawks' statistics, to say that your assertion that they suffered massive injuries is a joke.

toews played in 80 games. kane 73, sharp 74, hossa 65, bolland 61, kopecky 81, brouwer 79, bickell 78, stallberg 77. those are probably their top 9 forwards. even if we assume that every game they missed less than 82 was because of injury - which probably is not the case - that's a total of 68 man games missed among their top 9 forwards, or an average of about 7.5. that is not bad at all in the nhl.

among their top 4 defensemen, seabrook and keith played every game, hjalmarsson played 80 and campbell played 65. that's a possible total of 19 man games missed among their top 4 d-men. again, that is not bad at all in the nhl.

neither goaltender missed significant time to injury.

just admit you were wrong when you said that the blackhawks suffered massive injuries this year, and move on.

That's crazy. Last year our top 9 forwards missed an average of 9 games and top 4 defensemen an average of 6 games.

This year, the forwards averaged 7.5 games missed and the D an average of 5.

I guess it felt like the Hawks were more injured than they were because of the depth we were missing this year. It felt like every other day one of our top players were going down whether it was Hossa, Toews, Bolland, Sharp, Campbell, etc. When one of those guys misses time and you have to rely on a Fernando Pisani to fill in, you miss that guy a crapload.

Part of it was timing of the injuries, and how they were forced to (or chose to) deal with the problem. Missing defensemen early and having Keith play 30 minutes a game with barely any time off from the previous season had long lasting effects in my opinion. Bolland missing time late in the season and to start the Vancouver series hurt. Seabrook suffering his injury in the playoffs hurt. Hossa and Kane overlapping their injuries at the beginning of a season in which they were trying to find some chemistry with a bunch of new guys skating together made it tough to ever get it done. They didn't come close to suffering the type of injuries Pittsburgh dealt with, but they missed so many guys at so many inopportune times, and effectively ruined their best defensemen in the process. It was probably more the exhaustion of last season/olympics/playoffs/party + top guys like Keith and Toews having to pick up slack and just making it worse, rather than missed time that hurt.

this is embarrassing.

what's embarrassing is the fact that every single post you ever make towards me is taking shots at me. EVERY post. your little vendetta is what's embarrassing.

remember how we talked about this, and you finally said you put me on ignore? and then we talked about it again, and again you said you put me on ignore?

stop posting to me. i get it, you don't like me. it's pretty [expletive] obvious and at this point you sound like a bitter little kid. go away.

oh, and i was wrong about the massive injuries part. i thought hossa/sharp/kane missed more games than they did.

see, i admitted that i was wrong. but guess what? in about a week from now, you'll make sure to find a post from me and rip it apart and insult me. why? because you find it soooooo necessary to let me know how much you dislike me.

why is that?

uh ok, relax francis.

i was arguing against a post that you made in the nhl playoffs thread, which i'm pretty sure is a thread for all nhl fans. you admitted you were wrong (after first saying that the article was pretty useless), now i'm done with it.

Detroit just got an empty net goal to go up 3-1 with a minute left.

Looks like we're going to have a Game 7 on Thursday in San Jose.

so winning the Cup 4 times was better

March 26, 1997 game against Colorado was better

but I cannot think of any other games in my life as a Red Wing fan more satisfying then the game tonight. Screw San Jose and their diving team.
