Game 1's have been pretty crazy this year.

The Spurs and Lakers both lost their openers in the first round while the Bulls, Heat and Celtics all had close games. So far in the second round, the Thunder and Bulls have lost.

NBA upgraded James Jones's foul on Pierce to a flagrant, and rescinded Pierce's technical from the play. Any chance we can replay the last 8 minutes with our best player on the court now?

It was the technical on Jones that they took away. Pierce's technical stood.

Whoops...Well can we still replay it?

What a choke job by the Lakers.

They got jobbed with the foul calls on the last possession for each team but whatever, shouldn't have even come down to that.

Great job choking by Kobe (again) today.

Kobe choked? In what way?

There was a foul on the lost ball which wasn't called and he just missed an open look on the game-winner. He was 14-29 from the field including 4-9 on threes for the game.

The team blew that game, not Kobe.

Kobe turned the ball over around the :20 mark by driving too deep with no option and dishing to Jason Terry.

Still doesn't mean he choked. He was a big part of the reason they were in a position to win the game in the first place.

Bynum was 3-8 for 8 points with 5 rebounds and a -16 for the game.

Artest shot 1-8 and missed all three 3-pointers he took.

I'd look to those two for reasons the Lakers lost (as well as Dallas playing well outside of that stretch that spanned the second and third quarters where the Lakers went on a 21-2 run) before I would consider Kobe.

All 3 series where there is a decided favorite is being led by the underdog. And in the other series, the defending Eastern Conference Champ is trailing.

Choking has little to do with the overall course of the game. It has to do with crunch time.

Kobe isn't the reason the Lakers lost, but he made a terrible play at a critical juncture in the game that led to their loss.

Kobe isn't the reason the Lakers lost, but he made a terrible play at a critical juncture in the game that led to their loss.

That was hardly a terrible play. He drove to the hoop and Chandler stepped in for the shot block. Marion had switched onto Gasol down low so that option was out. Odom was open but was directly behind Kobe so he couldn't pass there. Artest was open in the corner but he would have had to throw the ball over Chandler and Marion to get it there and in any case, Artest hadn't made anything all night. Terry had come over to shadow Kobe on the left when Kobe went right so Kobe thought Fisher was open but Terry slid over and made a nice play to intercept the pass.

Kidd played great defense on the play and didn't let Kobe get a shot off earlier and stayed right with him until he got to the paint where Chandler was.

But like I said, the game wasn't lost there. It was lost in the couple minutes after the Lakers built the 16 point lead early in the third and the Mavs quickly cut it to three.

Nah, Kobe clearly choked. He had a horrible turnover, he fell on a set play for him with ZERO contact. That was confirmed via video replay and the TNT aftershow. Then he bricks an open look three pointer while down by two

DWade > LBJ

LeBron is probably the best role player in the history of basketball. Nothing he ever does is spectacular. The only thing spectacular about him is his physical attributes.

i'm basically a basketball agnostic, but i have really come to hate the celtics. i think it's likely the combination of ssr and how detestable most of their team is. it's weird though, i was pretty anti-lebron after last summer, but watching the game tonight, i realized immediately that i was pulling for the heat without question.

I'm ok with the Heat winning the series, because I want the Bulls to have a shot at taking them down. But Boston needs to make it a series.
