Love that Artest kneed Odom in the balls on that one too.

That was the best part of that play.

Hah, yeah.

Lakers meltdown. And if you're gonna meltdown, you may as well have Artest on the floor at the end to put the cherry on top.

3 days off? WTF NBA?!?

Meanwhile Rose and his gimpy ankle suit up 2 times inbetween Celtics-Heat games, as well as the day after the next Celtics-Heat game.

Bizarre.

When you're young hotness you can do that. The NBA are desperate to give Old Man Celtics another shot at things so they give them time to heal their brittle bodies.

Ditto for the Lakers-Mavs.

Sponge, you should be in LA today. It's so magnificent. Everyone at work is acting like someone died.

It feels like they want to run Pau Gasol out of town for being soft. It's awesome.

They're obviously mourning the loss of Paul Gasol. Wait, Pau Gasol is still alive? Well that's news to me.

In all seriousness, I can't wait for Kobe to chuck up 30 shots in Game 3. You know it's going to happen. There's no way he's going down without trying to carry the team on his back.

Also, who's ready for some Luke Walton in Game 3? Because Artest has been suspended for his clothesline of Barea.

the nba has always done this. i remember when the first round series were 5 games long and used to go for 2 weeks if they played the full 5.

That's not the point. The Lakers/Mavs and Bulls/Hawks are both playing twice before the Cs and Thunder play their next games.

lakers are done

Another nice tank job by the Lakers. Up 81-73 with 7 to play and Dallas finishes on a 25-11 run. It was also 87-81 with 4:33 to play and Dallas went 17-5 the rest of the way.

Just pathetic. When they went on that 17-1 run late in the regular season, they did it with great second half defense and that's nonexistent in this series.

If they had any ability to close, they'd be in control of this series up 2-1 right now. Oh well.

Wow, Lakers. I loved Phil Jackson hitting Gasol in the chest.

MAN I haven't watched a lot of the Lakers this year, but after seeing them the past few games it looks to me like Bryant is done as an elite player. He can't just do whatever he wants to anymore. Is he hurt?

it's probably more that he's played over 1300 nba games... can't stay among the top 3 players in the league forever.

IOW, he's hurt and he's not getting better?

He's hurt but he relies on his jumper a lot now. If his jumper is going down, he's in good shape but if it's not, he can shoot the Lakers out of the game quickly. I don't know if he's done being an elite player - if he's not, he's close - but he isn't anywhere close to as dominant as he was even a couple years ago.

As Truffle said, he's also got a ton of miles on his legs. He's played 1103 regular season games at 36.4 minutes per game and 207 playoff games at 39.3 mpg. So in terms of total games, he's played the equivalent of 16 seasons. By comparison, Jordan played 1251 total games in his career (1072 regular, 179 playoff) at 38.3 mpg in the regular season and 41.8 in the playoffs.

Also, whenever Dirk shoots the ball, I never think he's going to miss. Such a good shooter.
