Location, who knows what perks were involved, and he'll be their primary weapon. He's an amazing talent, I do expect him to miss some time though.

Besides his dad who is in Vegas, his whole family lives in LA (and Vegas is a lot closer to LA than Durham or Lexington). And Shabazz and his dad had already built a good relationship with Howland over the past few years.

 

Depending on who you believe, Shabazz had been a silent since November. He's the main reason Kyle Anderson is going to UCLA.

The Burndidge (or however you spell it) transfer is kind of weird from the outside. He's from Michigan and had to know this was a possibility. Unless he completely hated it there or hated Beilein, why not wait a week to see if he would be the starting PG on a top 25 team?

it didn't seem like much of a possibility at the time that Burke was going to declare. i think Brundidge just felt he wasn't going to see much more PT than he did this year

 

pretty bad situation, though; Burke gets to join Darius Morris in the D-League on the heels of (imo) really bad advice

I doubt it. Even if he wanted to, the Illini are stocked with talent on the wings, with two (possibly three) more four star guards on the way after next season. What we need are post players. I'm under the impression he's leaving Drake to get more exposure, so I'm not sure Illinois would be the best fit, but who knows.

 

I read somewhere he like Northwestern, but I don't know how concrete that is.
