So E'Twaun Moore is playing for Benetton Treviso in Italy during the lockout, he's starting at SG. Brian Scalabrine is the starting PF on his team, haha.

This might be the best six minutes of basketball Missouri has played in three years. They have a functioning half-court offense that doesn't resemble anything close to that discombobulated mess CMA ran. Faith in Haith!

Kinda funny that Michigan was either going to play the team they played in the first round of last years NCAAs or the team they played in the second round.

Duke it is. Michigan always seems to play Dule well a majority of the time, so hopefully that continues. Wins over Memphis and Duke on a neutral court will look awesome come March.

This might be the worst UCLA basketball team of all time.

I've never seen a Missouri offense perform like this before. It's weird.

Their discipline was outstanding.

They had all the speed/tempo of an Anderson offense but they were actually under control and composed. I liked it. Wish we had Bowers, this team could go far if we did.

Well, after a 5th straight 20+ point win, IU starts the real games. Butler, @ NC State, Kentucky and Notre Dame are 4 of the next 5 games. Kentucky is a blowout loss, but I would be really encouraged with 2 out of 3 of those other games. Butler isn't the same team that were back-to-back national runners up, but probably tourney worthy. NC State is a bottom 1/2 ACC team that probably won't threaten for a tourney bid. Notre Dame is a middle of the pack Big East team, and a borderline tourney team. 9-2 going into conference season would be nice, with 10-1 being amazing.

My positive feelings towards Iowa basketball have gone down a tad as they are down 30 to Creighton right now.

Well defensively they're a total mess right now. Cartwright isn't good defensively but was even worse being sick and they made a killing beating him with the dribble and then we overhelped which led to wide open corner 3's and layups. Didn't hurt that they shot the lights out too.

Offensively I thought Iowa was fine, they just couldn't make anything. That was a total bummer but doesn't change all that much with my outlook as of now. Two more cupcakes then we get another real game with Clemson next Tuesday.

Not that IU is going to beat Kentucky, but I wouldn't write it off as a blowout just yet. IU played UK close into the second half the last two years before faltering, and this IU team is much better (Kentucky may be better, who knows, they're always loaded with talent so it's hard to say). Pomeroy has UK with a 75% chance of winning, but the margin of victory at only eight.

But, you're without the legend of Mo Creek!

True. IU is going to miss Creek's 31.0 points-per-game average against Kentucky. Did you hear that he scored 31 points against Kentucky as a freshman?

Technically, the hobbled version of Creek did make it to the Kentucky game last year and was pretty terrible.

After watching IU for a few games, I still don't know who will transfer to make room for the oversign. The four names that I guess something could happen with are Etherington, Sheehey, Jurkin, or Creek, but I don't see any of those as very likely.

Oh yeah. My bad. I try to forget that Creek played last year because it was so painful. Not painful because he was not good; painful because he looked so unhealthy, so unsteady on his legs, that I kept waiting for him to get hurt. Oh well.

I keep hearing Hulls might pay his own way and go off scholarship (unless Creek gives up basketball and takes a medical/hardships/whatever-it's-called-that-I-think-exists scholarship). I don't want to lose Jurkin or Etherington, and I sure don't want to lose Sheehey.

There's a medical hardship extra year, and I believe a waiver keeping his tuition paid if he's unable to play ball, but I wasn't aware of any that allow him to continue to play without counting towards scholarship.

That's what I was going for -- I did say "gives up basketball" . . .

So, Illinois plays two real teams the next couple days in Cancun. I only hope this is more successful than the nightmare Vegas trip two years ago that resulted in them not making the tournament.

The last post is my favorite.

Illinois vs. Richmond tonight. I believe Richmond's 2nd All-time leading Scorer, Guard Kevin Anderson, decided to turn pro last year after his Junior season. Big loss for them as he was a guy who could take over games when needed. They played low scoring games the past couple years so a guy like him was crucial. Richmond should take a significant step back from their Sweet Sixteen team of last year, but have enough talent to be dangerous.
