Lots of rumors going around on various message boards saying more Ohio State news is going to come out in the next few days. A national media outlet (now said to be Sports Illustrated) is going to come out with a new story about NCAA Violations involving Tressel and Ohio State. Claims are that there were paid vacations to players, recruits and their families, Illegal housing and cars to recruits, and other recruiting violations.

All this OSU news is glorious.

More on the guy who poisoned the Toomer's Corner trees.

By the way, I've eaten several times at the catfish place they held the interview at in Manchac, LA. It's Mittendorf's and they have the best paper-thin catfish filets anywhere.

Absolutely! It's worth the 20 minute drive from New Orleans.

I have been known to time my trips to New Orleans so that I'm traveling through there at meal times. They also have pretty good gumbo. They've expanded quite a bit over the years, but I know many people who do not make a trip from Monroe to New Orleans without stopping there. It's been over a year since I've been and need to make another trip.

If OSU fans would just realize that them going on probation does no one in the Big Ten any good...of course it would seem that most fans of other Big Ten schools don't seem to realize this either

You are right, as a Penn State fan, I hope Ohio State gets off scot-free because them not playing in bowl games or big televised games won't help the Big Ten any. In fact, I hope they continue to cheat and get away with it, because the Big Ten's image and profitability are the #1 and 2 priorities to me as a Penn State fan.... #-o

Ex-Buckeye Tells All

Small told The Lantern on Wednesday he profited off of memorabilia while at Ohio State, adding that some student-athletes "don't even think about (NCAA) rules."

"I had sold my things but it was just for the money," Small said. "At that time in college, you're kind of struggling."

Small, who played receiver at OSU from 2006-2010, capitalized on the Buckeyes' success during his college career.

"We had four Big Ten rings," he said. "There was enough to go around."

Small said he sold the rings to cover typical costs of living.

"We have apartments, car notes," he said. "So you got things like that and you look around and you're like, ‘Well I got (four) of them, I can sell one or two and get some money to pay this rent."

The wheeling and dealing didn't stop with rings. The best deals came from car dealerships, Small said.

"It was definitely the deals on the cars. I don't see why it's a big deal," said Small, who identified Jack Maxton Chevrolet as the players' main resource.

The Columbus Dispatch reported on May 7 that OSU was investigating more than 50 transactions between OSU athletes and their families and Jack Maxton Chevrolet or Auto Direct.

Representatives for Jack Maxton Chevrolet did not return repeated requests for comment.

NCAA rules prohibit student-athletes from benefiting from the sale of their merchandise. Small said he wasn't the only one.

"They have a lot (of dirt) on everybody," Small said, "cause everybody was doing it."

Mike Blakely, one of the top RBs from this past recruiting class (6.0 rivals rating), has transferred from Florida to Auburn. He'll have to sit out the 2011 season, but he will have 4 years of eligibility starting in 2012.

so, b/c you had so many of them, you sold your rings to pay rent and for the brand new car that you got b/c the dealer gave every football player a sweat deal on a new car? i hope you're not shooing for sympathy there.

btw - scholarships pay for board, so where were you living that you had to sell [expletive] to pay your rent?

do the scholarships pay for board in off campus housing, or do you have to live in a dorm?

i don't know, nor do i care. bitching about rent and selling a big ten title ring to pay for it (and a car that you got well below fmv) while having the option of taking a free room (and food, btw) makes you look like an [expletive].

Scholarships pay for board in off-campus. I had board in included in my scholarship, moved out of the dorms after freshman year and wound up with ~$400/month in spending money (beyond groceries/utilities) from the savings. The prices you pay for dorm residences and meal plans is exorbitant.

Lack of institutional control. Go for the jugular, NCAA

I think that automatically occurs with them being on probation for the Men's Basketball team. We might not see them in a bowl game till 2016.

tO$U fans are absolutely throwing Smalls under the bus today on sports radio. Call after call of him being a snitch, being disloyal to the program, never being allowed back in Columbus, etc.

The co-host of the 1-3pm show is Demetrius Stanley, an O$U player from the late 90's. He was going out of his mind, practically yelling about how Smalls shouldn't have brought anyone else into this, how it was "fine" if he wanted to implicate himself, but he shouldn't name names or insinuate anyone else was involved. I've never heard someone sound more guilty (and panicked) on the radio.
