Man, the SBNation blog for GB is terrible. There's an article about Kellen Davis saying the Bears would win, where he calls Davis "one of Chicago’s biggest disappointments". Come on...he's the 3rd freaking TE in a TE group that's been doing mostly blocking.

Then there's an article talking about the "matchup" between Charles Woodson and Charles Tillman. Um...they both play defense...there's no matchup to talk about. I mean, they say great things about Tillman, which is fine and all...but I just think it's completely pointless to talk like they're going to be going head to head or something.

They bash the Bears stats in the Seattle games because of 8 penalties, a -1 turnover margin...which they don't mention occurred when our RB threw a freaking pass while we were up by 25 in the 4th quarter....and then they say "WR Devin Hester only 30 yards total on punt returns, which was amazing considering the Seahawks punted nine times." Yeah...cuz they were totally kicking right down the middle to him and stuff...

LOL. He only returned 2 punts. He had a 15 yard average per punt return, which still would have been a yard and a half better than 30 NFL teams had this year.

Jersey, you went to the game?

Was that your first time at new Soldier?

Yes, got a last minute ticket and flight. I've been there a few times before. Detroit in 2006, unfortunately Arizona last year. Maybe one other time, can't remember. I've seen them more in Philly and NY than Chicago though.

Pretty sweet. Good game to go to.

Am I counting wrong, or is Lovie Smith 5-2 agains the Packers at Solider Field?

4-3

Losses in 04, 06, and 09.

Ah, ok. So 3-1 in the last 4 meetings.

I have a hard time counting 04 and 06, since 04 was a garbage team without Urlacher and with the revolving trio of garbage at QB when Grossman got hurt, and because 06 was an exhibition game.

Not that I think Lovie's record against GB at home is all that relevant to what will happen in this game.

I'm sure GB can find reasons that their losses shouldn't count either, though.

Come on, pretty obviously at least the '06 game shouldn't count.

Again, like any of this matters...

Same coaches, same schemes, many of the same players. How is it not relevant? I'm an eternal pessimist so I'm trying to cope with my odd feeling that the Bears are actually going to win this weekend. It's happened 3 out of the last 4 times so maybe I'm not crazy for thinking it.

Hey, we were garbage in 2005 so that game doesn't count either.

The Bears were definitely garbage in '06.

[expletive] I HATE THE PACKERS I WANT THIS GAME TO START RIGHT NOW!

And either way, it doesn't matter.

I hate stats like this. We're going back as 2004 head to head records to find out WHAT exactly about this game?

It means nothing. The sample size also means nothing.

My point was that the record is almost meaningless, especially when it's peppered with stuff like that.

Yeah...Week 3 doesn't even mean a lot to me at this point since so much has changed. I expect the game to look a lot like Week 17. Except I don't expect the Bears to give up on a successful running attack this time around. And I expect Gould to make his field goals.

Has it hit anybody yet that if we win this Sunday we're in the Super Bowl again? Because it hasn't really hit me.

I guess my mind is hung up on this game so much that I'm blinded to all the hoopla that will follow if we win.

Same. But I was that way against the Saints too. I was so focused on that game that it didn't hit me till afterwards that we were going to the freaking Super Bowl.

This feels so much different than the 2006 season to me. They were destined for the Super Bowl that entire season, and were clearly the most talented team in the NFC. I'll feel differently about it Sunday, but right now it just feels like an amazing opportunity to beat GB in the NFC Conference Championship game, moreso than an opportunity to get to the Super Bowl.

Our group of football watchers are mainly Jets, Bears and Steelers fans though, and this weekend is going to be nuts.

Heh...more of the Milwaukee market was tuned into the Bears game this past week than Seattle's market.

The Seahawks-Bears game on Fox had a 38.6 rating in Milwaukee on WITI-TV (Channel 6). In Seattle, the game had a 38.2 rating, slightly lower than in Milwaukee.

In the Chicago market, Seahawks-Bears had a 43.2 rating.

The Seattle-Tacoma TV market is the 13th largest in the country. Milwaukee is the 35th.

I suspect it's because Milwaukee probably has a fair number of Bears fans, but still...

Seattle probably also has a much higher percentage of the population that don't give a crap about sports.

Seattle/Tac is a big "transplant" metro area as well, meaning there are an awful lot of people who live here who didn't grow up here. Those people (such as myself) are bound to be fans of other teams. in contrast, who the hell would ever want to move to Milwaukee?
