I guess I don't get the fuss over who sings the National Anthem.

i usually don't but the thing gets the crowd pumped up

Isn't an NFC championship game against the Packers enough? You should be able to plug the rotting corpse of Abe Vigoda in there and still be pumped.

RT @skjensen: NFL calls an audible: I'm told that Jim Cornelison WILL perform National Anthem on Sunday. Dewyze will perform at half

Good. Now will Dave Kaplan take a Xanax.

best decision ever

I like this decision. It's very Chicago, and will make for a great scene. The anthem singer really doesn't matter on the outcome of the game, and if the Packers organization gets their panties in a bunch over it than so be it.

As for the officiating, GB's offensive line has improved since week 3. I'm pretty sure Bulaga wasn't starting in week 3, and he has had a few rookie hickups, but overall has been solid on the right side. I think Harris can really abuse GB's interior if he plays the way he did last week. I'd rather not revisit the refs screwed GB conversation, that was easily the Packers worst game of the season, and the Bears deserved to win.

Trying to figure out how much I'd spend on a ticket if I had the chance to buy one for cheaper than current secondary market prices. I'm thinking up to $300 just based on the rationalization that I've spent $500 or more each of the past 3 years on Northwestern bowl games.

It's more fun for the crowd. The NFL is looking for more and more ways to make the gameday experience enjoyable for the crowd, since going to a game generally sucks in comparison to watching on TV. It makes a lot of sense to do stuff like this to allow fans to enjoy the day that much more.

Jersey, you went to the game?

Was that your first time at new Soldier?

Here's a plus for the Bears:

Terry McAulay will officiate the NFC Championship game. Coincidentally, this was the same guy who presided over the 18-penalty affair earlier in the season against the Bears.

It beats Hochuli, but that's still a joke.

You do realize the Packers actually committed those penalties? They would have gotten their butts pounded if they didn't commit all those penalties keeping the Bears off them.

Lots of people seem to be forgetting that those penalties weren't gifts. They were the result of a poorly coached team that was having a lot of trouble handling the Bears that night.

The PI on Burnett was a horrible call and that ultimately put the Bears in FG range for Gould at the end.

But yes, almost all of the other penalties were our own doing. You won't find me arguing that.

I guess I've never really paid much attention to all that nonsense. I'm just glad when the song is over so the game can start.

Yes, got a last minute ticket and flight. I've been there a few times before. Detroit in 2006, unfortunately Arizona last year. Maybe one other time, can't remember. I've seen them more in Philly and NY than Chicago though.

99% of the time I'm the same way, which is the reason why I think this is a good idea. It's actually fun to be a part of the whole crowd cheering along and spotting the jets on the horizon flying toward your head.

Plus the fact that he did a rather awe inspiring rendition of the national anthem, followed by 4 military jets doing a fly over. I wasn't really getting into his rendition at the beginning on Sunday, but by the time he to to those higher notes, the intensity reminded you that you were about to watch something intense.

Had a feeling that was gonna happen. Good call NFL/Fox.

I was at the game on Sunday and seeing the jets got me so pumped.

They lost to the Dolphins and Redskins and scored 3 points against the Lions, and this was their worst game of the year?

It's hard to put a finger on the worst loss. I think you can excuse Detroit because of Rodger's concussion. Washington and Miami were both overtime games they should have won. But the Bears game was a comedy of self inflicted errors, which directly contributed to the loss. In no other game did they so thoroughly shoot themselves in the foot.

lol, so ESPN Sportsnation has a poll for who will win the game. The choices are Chicago comfortably, Chicago close, GB comfortably, GB close.

GB close has 42%, followed by GB comfortably 32%, followed by Bears close 21% and Bears comfortably 5%

But that's not the funny thing. 47 states had Packers close the majority pick. As expected, Illinois was the only state that had Bears in a close one. But then there were 2 states that picked Packers comfortably, Wisconson and......Washington. Those crazy bitter Seahawks fans want the Packers to thrash us.

For once, I am glad the Thunder left for OKC.

Also sticking with the stereotypes of the Bears:

-70% have McCarthy as the better coach

-64% think that Jay Cutler's inconsistency is a bigger question mark than GBs running game.

-49% think that Chicago having HFA helps "a little" (vs. 30% that think its no advantage)

speaking of crazy bitter...

NFL Replay of Sea@Chi is Thursday at 1pm eastern.

Friday night at 1am eastern, NFL network is replaying Chi vs GB from 11/03/85:

Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers (11/03/1985) - On their way to their Super Bowl ring, the Bears are lifted to a victory with a 27-yard rushing TD by Hall of Famer Walter Payton for the 16-10 win against Green Bay.

Saturday afternoon they are doing NFL Replays of both GB games from this season.

CBSsports.com rated the remaining playoff QBs on trustworthiness and Cutler finished last after Sanchez. Not a surprise but funny.

Awesome to the Jim announcement. When i was watching the game on sunday i was like no way are they doing this. Then the jets. Yes its amps up the entertainment factor big time and to me thats what is all about, entertainment. Your team, your city, your stadium.....in a conference championship! WTF!! This home field just makes things so much more awesome. I freaking cant wait. It just so happens i will be in Vegas and i will be completely nuts on sunday at the sportsbook drinking free booz and cheering my ass off. If they win.....who the f knows.
