Dewitt, Jeff Baker, and or Koske are probably the more likely candidates. But I have seen Paul Sullivan, idiot, bandy about lineups with castro at the top. I think he profiles as the ideal two hitter so thats that.

You'd have to be an "idiot" to consider using the "ideal two hitter" in the leadoff role? Really?

One and two hitters have very similar job descriptions and are more or less interchangeable.

I agree, i think as Castro adds power he will definitely be the ideal 2 hitter but right now there are many options for the 1-2 part of the order. I personally am more concerned with where Soto will be hitting.

Best hitter in the lineup should bat 2nd. I still don't understand the bizarre insistence on placing light hitting guys there.

Leadoff guy gets a bunt single, then steals 2nd. The 2nd hitter hits a groundball to 2B to move the runner to third. 3rd hitter knocks him in with a sac fly. What's so complicated about that?

It's not complicated. It's not smart either.

I'm still celebrating all those Cubs World Series victories because we always had that lead off hitter to start the game off just right.

I don't think you understand. The 2nd hitter has to be able to ground out to the 2nd baseman to advance runners. That's baseball.

I hated Brian McRae for two irrational reasons

1) At a local charity function, at the peak of my baseball card collecting childhood, a silent auction was being held on a bunch of really great baseball cards. I had asked my Dad to put some bids on on some cards (An old Whitey Ford card worth $50 at the time was one of them). I figured it was in the bag... nope. Not for me. Not for anyone... because Brian McRae's wife came by and put down the max bid on EVERY [expletive] ITEM. So all these collectors can go to hell, rich Brian McRae's wife just stole everything out from under you for. Thanks.

2) The reason she was even at this event in the first place is because her sister, and McRae's sister in law, was my 2nd grade teacher... and she was a [expletive] evil, mean spirited, bitch

And this is why I hate Brian McRae. I know, I know...

I found Brian McRae on AOL like 14 or 15 years ago and he has been on my buddy list since.

I'm pretty sure it's really him, at this point, unless BMcrae3381 is still pretending to be what now is a post retirement average 90's Major Leaguer. I've IMed him like 3 times.

The first time I took my now wife to a Cubs game we were in the RF bleachers and I called a Brian McRae homerun on the next pitch. It happened, landed 2 rows in front of us and I'm pretty sure she was in love from that point forward.

Did somebody ask why you were upset with a woman who raised a lot of money by charity? Who cares about card collectors?

Has he responded?

And you still use AIM?

I remember him responding a couple times... Don't really remember what I asked him or said. It was while he was still playing. I see him sign on now and then.

And yea, I still use AIM to talk to my friends during work, mostly.

Guess we don't have to worry:

Orlando Hudson told Sirius XM's MLB Network Radio on Friday that he is nearing a contract with the Padres.

Hudson batted just .268/.338/.372 with six home runs for the Twins in 2010, but he's still capable of better offensive production and he still has a strong glove at second base. Minnesota landed him with a one-year, $5 million contract last winter. He should get something similar from San Diego.

WTF kind of auction has a max bid?

By max bid, I meant that she had the highest bid on all the items.

well if it's a charity auction i'd have a hard time being too mad at her, since all the money is (presumably) going to a good cause.

Yeah... but it's also a collectors auction, and people traveled from long distances to get their hands on some of this stuff, charity or no charity, and this witch took it from them just because she could. I'm not going to justify my hatred or convince anyone that I'm right here. I'm not. I just irrationally hated Brian McRae ever since that incident because I was a 10-year old kid, I loved baseball cards, and I REALLY wanted that Whitey Ford card and she took it from me. My most expensive card I had at the time was like $20, and this one was worth $50, which back in the early 90's was a lot of money for a baseball card, especially for a kid and I was gonna get it for only $10 that I saved up from doing chores specifically for this event... then she swooped in last second and got it for [expletive] $12. Really? You couldn't let a little kid have it? You cold blooded banshee. I'm sure that extra $2 is really gonna make a difference to whatever charity it was. You know what that $2 went to? The "Destroying Logan's Happiness" Foundation.

This shouldn't be a big deal, but it is to me, and I'll never forget it. So [expletive] Brian McRae

Or just because it was for charity.

And again, who cares about collectors?

Like I said, I'm not gonna justify it, because I'm not right and there's no way I can supply a compelling argument to make my case seem logical because it isn't.

I just... don't... like it

We had like the world leader in that. Only cost us 3 pitchers.

You guys likely have the greatest leadoff hitter the world has ever seen on your roster right now. Baker has a career .419 .486 .516 1.002 line when hitting leadoff. It's only 35 PA, but I learned in the Webb thread that it is not a random sample. He's also white and plays 2nd base, which is the position leadoff hitters play.
