I'd also like to at least comment on the offensive play of the year. 1st and 30 and Cutler throws a laser to Johnny Knox for a touchdown.

I wouldn't call that a laser. It got the job done but the throw itself wasn't all that pretty.

It was a Chip Caray kind of laser.

Says the guy who hates everything Jay Cutler.

I hated him when he threw four picks to Hall, but he has been great the last 5 games or so. I've made that pretty clear. The "laser" was into the wind and I doubt he could have put a ton more on it so I don't blame Jay for not throwing it on a line.

lol, desean jackson is pretty good but the knob-slobbing on the booya network concerning him possibly breaking devin hester's record some day jumps the border on the disrespectful and improper. we realize nobody pays attention to football west of appalachia, but throw a bone to the few of us that do.

Yeah Sunday's return was only the 4th of Jackson's career. Still 10 shy of Hester and Hester is far from done.

I bet Wilson is looking forward to the Jets game, so he can see Cutler and Sanchez go head to head to help him determine which QB is better.

Peppers is definitely going to be in the running for defensive player of the year. Just a great, great night.

Who else is going to be in the running? While I think Peppers has played as well as anyone, I don't think 8 sacks is going to get him that many votes.

Polamalu was in the running, but will likely miss the rest of the season. I think missing 3 games takes him out.

Clay Matthews was in the running, but he's now 2nd in sacks and won't win unless he has 2 big games and the Packers make the playoffs.

Maybe John Abraham if you're looking for the best defensive player on one of the top teams.

plus, as jackson ages, he'll probably be a guy that they only break out on really really important returns when they absolutely need a play.

The throw to Rashied was my favorite.

That throw can't be fully appreciated without seeing the end zone angle where it showed the ball going right between Henderson's ear hole and his hand. That ball literally couldn't have been more than an inch or 2 either way and still gotten to Davis. Just perfectly placed.

I imagine Clay Matthews has already won the award.

Maybe Polamalu or Shaun Phillips?

the thing is, the media has been actively pimping peppers as more than just a pass-rusher while abraham and matthews have not been.

Yeah it could be him. Atlanta does have an underrated defense. He doesn't have much help on the line and he constantly gets doubled yet still manages to get double digit sacks.

Didn't think of Abraham. Good call.

I think the media has crowned Matthews though, deserved or not.

his tackle numbers for a linebacker are disgraceful. peppers has nearly as many tackles on the d-line. matthews is a one-trick pony and valuable to a team as a guy like terrell suggs is valuable to a team. he gives extreme ancillary value, but he's not a guy who can disrupt at the point of attack.

I didn't hand Peppers the award, just said he should be in the running. Sacks aren't the only thing to count when looking at defensive linemen. Just like a defensive back can get credit for how often the opponent does not throw your way, Peppers has forced fumbles, tipped passes, chased down running backs in the open field, pressured QB's to no end and caused much havoc for opposing offenses in general. Definitely deserves to be in the discussion.

Polamalu should just get his own award, one already named after him, every year.
