or says espn, so it must be true

It's pretty much the storyline that most are going with. The Tribune called the penalty the turning point of the game. Humor sites like deadspin and KSK are casually referring to the refs screwing over the Lions again.

I think the penalty was pretty much a must call as it happened in real time. If you have the benefit of replay you can decide not to. But you can't do what he did and expect not to get called.

I think people (sportswriters) are just in disbelief in general over the Bears. Everyone wants to make Cutler to be the cry-baby (the whole McDaniels/Jeff George bit), the Bears use retreads for coaches, and the like.

I laugh at the whole "McDaniels is the next Belichek" spiel I read lately. Yea, Denver just wasn't ready for change. ok. The fact of the matter is Belichek failed mightily in Cleveland and persevered though it, as the franchise was going through extremely turbulent waters. Meanwhile, McDaniels has pissing all over his players and eventually sent the ones he truly needed packing. Matt Cassell has done fine, but for cripes sake TIM TEBOW?

I guess McDaniels could rebound, but I dont know.

I still don't get why Cutler gets most of the blame for his falling out in Denver. A new hotshot offensive coach showed up and the first order of business was to try and replace the franchise QB who had already been to a pro bowl. What QB would not be upset with that? What QB would trust a guy like that?`

I dont disagree.

Also, I managed to pull my back the other day, and as part of my medication I was drinking some wine last night to dull the pain so I could sleep, hence the somewhat rambling nature of that post. Good Times!

Bears sign guard Herman Johnson to the 53-man from the Arizona practice squad and waive DE Barry Turner.

Johnson is 6'7" 360 lbs.

Nicknamed “The House,” Johnson weighed 15 pounds and 14 ounces at birth, making him the largest baby ever born in the state of Louisiana.

Geez.

Oh, I remember reading about the biggest baby in Louisiana history during that draft.

It's weird that the media/casual outside fans still view Cutler as a prima donna for that whole fiasco but opinion is also really low on McDaniels for not getting along with and trading away Marshall and Hillis too. (At least that's the impression I get of the media and casual fan's view of the situation.)

It's also a shame that McDaniels couldn't have had a falling out with Ryan Clady before being fired.

Something I hear somewhat frequently is basically this:

McDaniels really clashed with players as he tried to implement the Patriots style. You can't really blame him for Cutler, who was immature and had a falling out with the owner. But you can't deny that these incidents happened too often.

What I hear from Charger fans (and they hate everything Denver, before during and after) is that Cutler is a whiny, little punk who always has to get his way. He constantly hangs his receivers out to dry and does nothing but throw interceptions.

While I admit that he always looks like he has a scowl on his face, I think that's just the way he looks and it's a bit difficult to change appearance no matter how hard Drew Brees tries.

It's not jealousy, because Rivers is a fantastic QB and they had Brees before him. It's weird.

Im so sick of hearing about that Suh penalty. It was unnecessary roughness. What he did with the swing was totally unnecessary. It was only a 7 yard penalty and wasnt something that happened on the last play of the game or anything.

McDaniels also didnt get along with Mike Nolan who freaking turned around that crap defense into something pretty good last year. Now they are crap again. McDaniels is the punk, not Cutler.

aka Philip Rivers

Charger fans hate Cutler because of that stupid exchange between him and Rivers during a game.

Rivers is worse then Cutler in terms of being a punk and he talks more trash then any other QB I can remember.

Yeah I took Cutler's side in that ordeal and I wasn't even really a fan of him at the time. Rivers just has the Ryan Braun effect going for me. Everything about him screams douche.

Maybe I've just been missing it, but it seems like Rivers has been toning down his act more recently.

I haven't seen any of the over-the-top, red-faced screaming on the sidelines that I used to from him.

I still don't see the same thing people talk about with Cutler. I've never felt his body language was all that bad, or that he's a "petulant child" or anything like that. But, since so many others keep saying it, I assume there's something I just don't mind, that others do.

At any rate, win me some football games. Beyond that, unless you're being hauled off to jail? Don't really care.

Didn't Rivers go off like a firecracker in the first game of this season on the sidelines?

Well this was him in game 1 of this season.

Mortensen and Schefter, who both picked the Lions over the Bears last week, are both picking the Bears over the Pats this week. Funny how they think we can beat a 10-2 team with the best QB in the NFL, but not a 2-10 team with its 3rd-string QB. I know there's more to it than that, but still.

That's kind of directed at his own team I guess. It's funny :)

And a fourth quarter comeback over that 2-10 team is I guess what won them over.

Maybe they're playing the letdown card on the Pats...

That's pretty weird, given that the biggest baby ever born was around 24 lbs and there was a set of twins born weighing almost twice as much as he did

best Cutler moment was in the pittsburgh game last year when he was walking around with his helmet sorta hanging off his head and one of the reffs hit him in the head and the helmet came off

it was goofy and funny, and heartwarming.

It's even better in super slo-mo because of crappy download speeds.

I think we get housed. Patriots 38-21. I think Brady is going to pick the defense apart with the underneath stuff and they won't be able to get off the field on 3rd down. I really hope I'm wrong.

That would be, far and away, the most points given up by the Bears all season. Most up until now is 26 to Philly in a win.

New England is also the highest scoring offense they've faced and Chicago matches up better with what Philly tries to do than what New England does.
