considering the fact that the united center is a morgue during games, i'm not too concerned about the home/road splits. seems more like a sample size thing.

based on the type of character this team has (especially noah/rose), i feel good about our chances on the road in the postseason when the stakes are high and everybody in the building hates them. noah, for one, loves that [expletive].

So the only factor that comes into play with home-road splits is crowd volume/engagement?

I think his point is more that the larger idea of home vs. road environment (ie-noise and what have you) being a factor doesn't really weigh in.

If there's a "problem" it's that the Bulls play down to shitty teams. That's something we've seen them do plenty of times at home, too, so it's not something restricted to their road games. It's that playing down that's ultimately lead to the mediocre road record. They're not going to do that in the playoffs or against good teams, hence why it's not really a problem so much as being an annoyance.

And I'm really surprised at the negative reaction to Pippen joining the broadcasting team that I'm hearing on the radio. Not negativity towards Scottie, but more the support that Neil Funk gets. That guy is awful.

His voice is awful, but he's nowhere near as annoying as King

I don't think that's necessarily true. The Bulls could stuggle in a certain type of road environment, regardless of what the UC environment is.

Maybe they play well in a neutral or positive arena environment, but struggle in a hostile one (don't think that's true). Or maybe they struggle when they're NOT getting booed loudly on the road (don't "get up" when the road crowd of a crappy team isn't into the game) -- this is more to dexter's latter point.

Jared Dudley would be nice.

What time is the deadline?

Bulls are after Jared Dudley. Intriguing. Great locker room guy, efficient role player and wouldn't demand the ball at all. Can knock down a 3. Basically a young, athletic replacement for Bogans in the SG rotation with Brewer and Korver. He's not a piece to build around but if he's cheap I like him more than Lee or Parker.

Jared Dudley is pretty good. I probably like Courtney Lee better, but Dudley is much better than Parker. I think if anything, bringing in another wing player helps Deng, who is playing a career high in minutes per game. Dudley can take Bogans minutes and about 3-4 of Deng's minutes.

I think Lee is a better player, I just think the Dudley price tag would be lower. If we can get Lee without giving up one of our bigs then I'm all for it.

The correct answer is, STOP IT!

Im going to be pretty pissed if the Bulls stand pat and dont get Lee just because they wont give up Asik. I like Asik but considering he logged a total of 24 seconds last night, itd be pretty stupid to not upgrade at SG by not giving up Asik.

Yeah if Asik isn't going to get minutes over Kurt Thomas, better get rid of him while his value is still high instead of having to do what we did with Johnson.

Now, I'd still rather just stick Thomas on the end of the bench, keep Asik and give him 15 minutes a game. But if Thibs is going to make Thomas the back-up, Asik's only value is in a trade.

Asik's primary value is long-term. Thomas is not going to be around next year.

It shouldnt be that hard to find a replacement for what Asik brings, even in the future. Hes never going to be a star. Hes a big guy who plays pretty good D, find one in the draft

Is Asik really that valuable? I'm honestly asking; how unlikely would it be that they could ultimately replace him with a similar player?

This isn't the only season. Asik has value beyond just the rest of this year. Thomas will be gone next year (I assume). I think Asik has enough upside to hang on to. As I said yesterday, I think you can find another Taj before you can find another Asik. I'd rather give up Gibson if you are giving up a big.

It shouldnt be that difficult

Man, now I'm all confused. I would have figured Taj was much more valuable to the Bulls than Asik. I guess I've just mostly dismissed Asik as a giant Turk long shot.

I think you underestimate Asik's ability, especially on the defensive end.

Asik's a 7-footer. You aren't getting a 7-footer as polished as Asik (and he's not even polished) when you are going to be picking after 25. Big men go early and often in the NBA draft. You can find another Taj anywhere. 6'9", good rebounder, occassional scorer.

Gibson and Asik have value because when they're on the floor together they can be suffocating defensively and they can start in a pinch. But with Noah back, there's less than 30 minutes between them to go around.

I'm inclined to agree with bukie and raw on Asik. His value as a 7-footer who should improve even slightly next year with Thomas gone is being underrated here.
