Mike Singletary this morning on OC Jimmy Raye:

Despite the disastrous outing, 49ers coach Mike Singletary remains committed to offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye. He said Raye will remain the team's coordinator the rest of the season.

Moments ago:

Jason LaCanfora of NFL Network reports that Raye has been fired.
Probably a new low for how short a vote of confidence has lasted.

Either that, or else it wasn't Singletary's call.

I think that game tonight was a positive result for other NFC teams. The Packers looked incredibly undisciplined, made a ton of mistakes and didn't really shine in any area outside of their passing game which everyone already knew was awesome. Bad special teams, inconsistent defense, no running game and basically 20+ penalties.

The Bears are going to be around all year and their defense did a good job of buckling down and stopping TD's. Still Cutler should have had 4 INT's, got hit hard, their pass defense didn't look good and they don't have a run game. Hopefully Hester just benefited from poor punting and isn't going to go back to being a force.

Outside of the Steelers, no one has been impressive through 3 weeks.

I can't believe how much the Packers shot themselves in the foot tonight.

Speechless

I cant believe how many times Peppers was held that wasnt called. Packers easily could have had 20-25 penalties

So was Matthews.

Aaron Rodgers had a perfect passer rating and lost. Has that ever happened before?

Tonight? Rodgers wasn't even close to a perfect passer rating. His rating was 92 something tonight.

i don't know, but his passer rating could not have been anywhere close to 158.3. nobody is going to have a perfect passer rating with an INT and 1 TD pass in 40 something attempts.

WTF was I thinking? In my defense I was looking at Yahoo! and for some reason it was showing his halftime stats and I glanced at it and said 158.3. Rough night.

Nothing to see here.

FTH? Per Rotoworld:

Colts president Bill Polian said on his weekly radio show Monday night that the NFL's expansion from a 16-game to an 18-game regular season is already a "done deal."

Polian, a member of the Competition Committee, referred to schedule expansion as a "fait accompli," meaning it's irreversible at this point. The plus side of the 18-game slate is that it eliminates two preseason games, but doing so also gives rookies less of a shot to impress coaching staffs. More injuries are also inevitable, and single-season records will be skewed. Sep. 27 - 7:57 pm et

On a positive Raiders note, McFadden had his second 100-yard game this year (he only had 95 against Tennessee) and is third in the league in rushing right now. Hopefully he can keep this up.

Shoutouts to former Razorback RBs. 144 yards for Hillis on Sunday too. :D Meanwhile, one day Felix Jones is going to do something this year.

We get it, you've said it at least 34 times. I don't think you wanna go down that road when Matthews was getting mugged just as much. And in the past if Jared Allen or someone was getting held and not called your response was usually something like "too bad, it wasn't called, stop whining."

I hope this is true. I hate paying regular season prices for preseason tickets I can't sell. Another regular season game would be great.

That will mean 10% more reps for the starters which will mean a lot more injuries and shorter careers. The players will have to be getting expanded rosters and a lot more total money even if their piece of the pie shrinks.

Florio was saying he wouldn't be surprised if they take the Thursday night games off NFL network to get networks to bid for them, and instead of making them just late in the year, have 19 of them and get hundreds of millions more. I don't like that at all.

It's really not that much more playing time. When you eliminate 2 preason games, where plenty of people get injured already it's not as big a deal as people like Peter King like to make it. But Peter King is notorious for bitching about the job being a 10-month one now instead of 5 months, so screw him.

18 game schedule is fine as long as you fix the IR/PUP system. Make it more like the DL in baseball

Yeah, there's really no good reason to force a team to IR a guy for the season.

I've felt that way for a long time. If you can be placed on the PUP list and miss the first six games without missing the entire year that should be true for six games during the middle of the season too.
