Georgia's AJ Green has been suspended for 4 games by the NCAA for selling his jersey TO AN AGENT. Georgia is appealing the decision, however.

If it's true, I can't think of a worse buyer for your jersey. He'd have gotten in less trouble had he sold it to Osama Bin Laden.

I think Mississippi State is going to surprise some people this year. Auburn is only a 2.5 point favorite, because their defense is still very questionable. It should be a high scoring game tomorrow night.

MSU is gonna get crushed. Cam Newton is going to run all over them.

It was absolutely stupid on his part. He is going to miss the South Carolina game and the Arkansas game barring the appeal. The suspension seems a little excessive. I don't know what it is with Georgia players this year, but there have been 8 or so arrests and now this one, the biggest one of all. If this causes him to lose just one spot int he draft (Mel had him 4th), he could lose millions. There were rumors that he took out an insurance policy ($50,000/$1,000,000) and that his dad lost his job and was unable to pay the premium, but I'm not sure if he sold the jersey to cover it.

I think it was something like $1,200 for his Independence Bowl jersey. I wonder what he'd get for a BCS bowl jersey?

Finished up $60 last weekend.

This weekend's bets:

$15 - LA Tech (+19.5)

$36 - BYU (PK)

$10 - IA (-14)

$10 - FL (-15.5)

$10 - OSU (-9)

$20 - AUB (-2)

the auburn-mississippi state line just moved to even where i'm looking....I just took them, but this isn't going to be a slam dunk.

What the hell is going on??

sharps have put a ton of money on mississippi state today is my guess. Craig Stevens, arguably Auburn's best LB, won't play tonight and didn't play against Arkansas State....i'm not sure why the line has moved 4 points in MSU's direction just today.

Is this going to be a thing now? Years ago I never heard anybody talk about "going chalk" on their brackets, and then every Tom Dick and Harry was using the phrase. I'd never heard the term "sharps" used before this football preseason and now I'm hearing it all the time.

By the way, 2nd google option is SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice.

AJ Green now being linked to the North Carolina scandal?

I'm pretty sure any school outside the southeast can do whatever the hell they want for the next couple of years. The NCAA is going to be busy.

The overtime coin flip in the Temple/Central Michigan game just went like this:

"What do you call?"

"Defense"

".....heads or tails?"

Can't football players on scholarship still take out student loans to live off for some extra cash? Why don't players just do that, especially ones like AJ green who know that they are going to easily be able to pay it back? I know they can't get loans from private companies and pay it back through their NFL signing bonus, but student loans are legal right?

the term "sharps" isn't a super new thing. it has been around for at least a couple of years now. Professional gamblers, wiseguys are known as "sharps". Amateurs (those who aren't privy to the savvy point of view) are known as 'squares'. Vegas seems to lay out odds in such a way that squares will naturally pick the wrong side of a bet. when things seem too obvious, something probably is amiss.

My guess would be players don't do that because they have to pay back the loans. Whereas if you sell your jersey, the money is completely yours and you don't have to pay it back.

•BISON COACH BLASTS KU: North Dakota State coach Craig Bohl made it clear this week that he was unimpressed with the Jayhawks and the atmosphere Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Bison play Northern Iowa on Saturday.

“I think the environment that we’re going to play in Cedar Falls is going to be much more of a hostile environment than Memorial Stadium in Kansas. That was pretty docile,” Bohl said. “And the type of team that we’re going to be playing is going to be a much more physical, aggressive football team than KU. And quite frankly I think we’re going to be playing a better opponent.”

I understand the word isn't new, but people using it in public is. I saw it again last night in a publication that never used it before. As for your last point, not really. The so called sharps bet against each other all the time.

50-yard line logo at Kyle Field tomorrow. Too bad no one outside of College Station will see it as the game is not televised.

Does anyone know if internet radio for college football games is blacked out like it is for baseball?
