I don't get it either. They get talent (by the recruitniks at least) and they've got an experienced staff. But to me they have terrible quarterback and line play and no gamebreakers to boot. They're on a downswing too.

I thought that there was the talent to be a bit better than 8-9 wins against a weaker than usual schedule. But I also wasn't counting on Michigan being that good (this week anyway).

And obviously Crist missed half the game, but the door was open to win that game if a couple things broke differently. But they didn't. Michigan was a little better today.

You don't see a difference between the team with Crist and either Rees or Montana? Crist marched the team down the field for scores on his first 3 possessions. His bomb to Rudolph was perfect. He is not as accurate as Clausen last year, no doubt. But he's got less than 2 full games played so far.

And much like last year, I expect the UM QB to be hurt by the end of the year as the wheels fall off. Robinson can't take that many hits every game.

Well at least we have a fresh Forcier ready to go if that happens.

You mean Devin Gardner. Forcier has been 3rd man on the depth chart and hasn't seen the field so far this season.

Has he officially been 3rd on the chart? I know Gardner came in today when DRob missed a snap, but I thought maybe it was because Gardner had a style similar to Denard and wanted to keep that style going. He also played at the end of the UConn game but I didnt know if that meant much.

No idea why Tate wouldnt transfer if hes really 3rd on the chart.

Competition hasn't been great but this is the best Iowa has looked to start the year in a while. I guess the only negative is that the games have been decided in the 2nd quarter and they haven't attempted a FG yet. The late game at Arizona next week scares the [expletive] out of me though. If they can win that you have a tune-up with Ball State, then PSU at home and a bye before Michigan.

Can Denard Robinson survive a season of being their entire offense? What's he at, like 900 total yards through two games? He's super scary right now but he's going to take a beating if this keeps up in the Big Ten. My only solace is that Jacory Harris looked like a Heisman winner early last year and Tate Forcier was UM's savior at this point last year. Still he gave Iowa fits last year when he came in and ran but had no idea how to throw. Hopefully UCONN and ND's defenses are just bad.

man ucla sucks a lot worse than i thought they would.

What's the deal there? I thought Neuheisel was a perfect fit out there. Really surprised they're that bad still.

Horrible quarterbacking, horrible line play on both sides of the ball (at least the defensive line was good the past few years with Brian Price). The recruiting is much improved but this is brutal. I'm not sure they can beat Washington State this season.

Not like the UCLA basketball team is going to make me feel much better in a few months.

Continuing today's theme of FBS teams losing to FCS teams, Ball State lost to Liberty 27-23. :-x

Four FCS upsets today. James Madison, South Dakota and Gardner-Webb also won.

On a related note, pretty good day for the Great West. South Dakota beat Minnesota, Cal Poly beat FCS No. 1 Montana and Southern Utah killed San Diego. Also, North Dakota nearly beat Northern Illinois.

Only UCD laid an egg.

Michigan at #22 in the coaches poll. Not surprised. It doesn't mean anything until Michigan actually wins a couple of games in the Big Ten.

All Dan Persa is doing is leading the country in completion percentage at 86.4% and QB rating at 212.06. He also has 1 fewer TD (5) than incompletions (6), which would be reversed had there not been a perfect TD throw dropped yesterday in the end zone, though the receivers have caught everything else thrown to them.

#20 in the AP. Again, extends the streak of consecutive seasons being ranked for at least 1 week. I don't know if we've ever had a season where we werent ranked for at least 1 week. If we have it happened pre 1970

Edit: Just looked it up, 1967 is the last year where UM wasn't ranked at least once in a season, including preseason polls.

I feel like AP voters are getting smarter, or at least more aware. I can't imagine Florida dropping from #4 in the preseason to #10 with two wins ten years ago, even if they deserved it. Maybe it's just me.

We certainly laid one too.
