I just watched an interview with John Calipari and there is no way he's coming to Chicago. Kentucky is his dream job and it took him 20 years to get there. There's no way he'd take the opportunity to make a bunch more money and possibly coach LeBron James.

Like people don't believe Saban will finished his career at Bama, I do not believe a word Calipari says. His actions needs to speak for him, not his words. If he is still there in 5 years, then I might believe him, but until then he is one NBA coaching opportunity away from leaving Kentucky.

If people truly believe LeBron will take away from Rose's game, what would he do if he was on the same team as Wade? I really don't think LeBron's going to want to be paired up with Wade.

I'm a bit surprised at how the Bulls seem to have jumped in as LeBron's number one choice after Cleveland's loss for the national media. Commentators are saying what they would do if they were LeBron, but that really doesn't matter. I think LeBron is staying in Cleveland due to his loyalty to the city. Nevertheless, what will keep LeBron from coming to Chicago is not Jordan's legacy. Jordan doesn't live in the city anymore, doesn't really make appearances in Chicago, and owns a different NBA franchise. The Lakers had stars there, but that sure didn't keep Kobe from running. Did ARod not go to the Yankees because of Babe Ruth's legacy?

I don't think loyalty to the city will figure into the equation nearly as much as likelihood to sustain a championship dynasty, but none of us know for sure. I will say I'm with you 100% with the Jordan legacy nonsense. That's just fans and pundits projecting their own feelings onto someone else. LeBron isn't afraid of Jordan's legacy nor should he be.

There are two thinigs that being overrated in the Lebron watch: 1. Loyalty and 2: His hometown status. I don't either playing that big of part in his decision. Even then he is genetically engineered in Akron, he never seemed to be a "Cleveland guy." I mean he wears Yankees caps, (even to Indians playoff games), he wears Dallas Cowboy jersies. He feuded with a non-former Brown player. I think Lebron James was not born or raised there, Cleveland wouldn't even have a shot at landing him. The reason they do is because of his birthplace. LBJ will do what is best for LBJ, Cleveland be damned.

But he was born and raised there and while that might not be a factor with most people, it is with him. LeBron is a creature of habit and that habit is the city of Cleveland.

Maybe he'll re-sign, maybe he won't, but those last days in Cleveland did not do any favors for Cavs on getting him to re-sign. Like most tho, I believe he had a foot out the door, and that Cleveland is no better at getting him then Chicago, Miami, or NY (I don't think NJ will be a factor).

Is there any chance that LeBron takes less money so the Bulls or any other team can sign him and another top free agent? Part of the reason that LeBron and players like him can't win is that they take up too much salary. Is there a precedent for top free agents taking less money to get another player to sign with him?

No.

But I think there's definitely a chance you'd see guys like Ray Allen and some of those other types of players taking less money to play with one of the bigger free agents this season.

simmons has been pretty hard on lebron these last few days.

Because the other part feels as if we learned something substantial about LeBron James this spring. I always thought his ceiling looked like this: Jordan's DNA crossed with Magic's DNA crossed with Bo Jackson. Nope. Take the Jordan DNA out. Have to. Jordan was a ruthless mother******. Jordan was a killer. Jordan didn't care if his teammates despised him. Jordan never, ever, not in a million years, would have allowed his team to quit in the final two minutes of Thursday night's game the way LeBron did. His teammates feared him, loathed him, revered him and played accordingly. Bird had that same quality. In the second half of his career, so did Magic. Winning meant so much to those guys that their teammates almost didn't have a choice; they had to follow suit. Or else.

From McGraw of the DH:

Shortly after Cleveland was eliminated by Boston in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, LeBron James placed a call to Bulls guard Derrick Rose.

What did they talk about?

Word is, James said he likes Rose's game, likes his team and would welcome the chance to play together.

Before putting LeBron's No. 6 Bulls jersey up for sale, keep in mind that it's possible James made similar calls to Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Maybe even Nets center Brook Lopez. But it has been made clear through various channels that James is very interested in joining the Bulls when he becomes a free agent on July 1.

New York, New Jersey and Miami figure to be James' top options, along with re-signing in Cleveland. Staying with the Cavaliers is starting to seem less likely after the early playoff exit exposed flaws in the team's winning formula.

The James phone call to Rose was mentioned by ESPN reporter Scoop Jackson and confirmed by a league source. Rose has been taking things slowly since the Bulls season ended with a first-round loss to Cleveland, but he visits the Berto Center on occasion. The source said the James-Rose conversation did not last very long.
