It really sounds like McCamey is going to attempt to go pro. His tweets over the last few days have been pretty telling.

Well we already knew he was stupid. I've seen the tweets as well, and it doesn't look good.

He'll get drafted but he's an idiot if he actually hires an agent this year.

I'm not sure he gets drafted. Weber has to be sweating bullets over this.

Looking at it from a different angle, what does McCamey gain from staying another year, in terms of his NBA stock? He's already shown he can run the offense, score when he's the focal point, etc.

If you can show that you can lead a team deep into the tourny it does wonders for your draft stock. That's how Deron Williams went ahead of Chris Paul.

McCamey would be a legit NPOTY contender next year. That kind of hype helps a lot. As far as what he can improve on, he can show a lot more on defense and can still improve both his PG skills and scoring. He's got a lot to gain by coming back. Trying to remove my own vested interest from the situation, I think it'd be dumb not to come back without a 1st round guarantee

Yeah this would be really dumb if he doesn't stay in the first round. On a lot of levels. If he's guaranteed the first round he should go. If not he needs to come back get his degree for free and then see what happens.

In hindsight, it really didn't make sense for him to leave. Can anyone think of a coach who went to a program with worse prestige/tradition, in a worse conference, with worse current talent, and thousands of miles from his home area to boot?

No. I think there's always a chance CMA bolts. If the Tigers perform like I think they will over the next two seasons, it'll be hard to keep him at his current price.

Does he feel like the potential lockout is forcing his hand? Someone explain to me--if there is a lockout, what are the options next year for players who are out of eligibility?

Not sure, I do know that even if there is not a lockout most feel that the draft picks will be the ones who feel the money change the most. I think the rookie pay cut will be pretty huge.

Considering 2nd round money isn't guaranteed, it shouldn't affect him there.

No that wouldn't matter, but if he stays in school and there is a lockout he is trapped next year after the collge season until the lockout is resolved..

I can't recall, what have sports done in the past during lockouts/strikes with regards to their drafts? Do they just not hold them until the dispute is resolved and then rush through them once it's over?

I don't really remember. What happened in '99 in the NBA? I'm not sure.

They couldn't have them, right? Drafted players would be considered either crossing the picket line or scabs by the players association. Well, maybe they could have them but just not sign anybody?

I think the lockout happened after the draft. Because '98 was the Olowokandi nightmare and '99 was the year Brand went No. 1.

I want to say the lockout didn't officially start til after the draft, though it was pretty much expected.

Yep, draft took place 1 week before the lockout began.

How bout the NHL, they had a full season, which I imagine must've included the normal time of the draft.

Yeah you are right. Huh, not sure what they are going to do. Because I doubt they get this resolved in time to avoid the issue.

Is Arkansas Anderson's dream job being a Nolan Richardson disciple?

Hard to say. He might relish the chance to succeed his mentor there, or he might not want anything to do with the school that ran his mentor out on a rail. Given his current situation, there'd probably need to be a lot of other incentive to take the job since it's in a worse conference and doesn't have much to offer in terms of program prestige or current talent(that's why they'd be hiring Anderson).
