Oh well. You play 4 really close games in a row like that and you expect to go 2-2. Oladipo's tip just went to the exact wrong spot. A little softer and it goes in and a little harder and Sheehey catches it for the game winning layup.

That was a fun game and it's been a while since I've watched an Iowa game that was that intense. I hope Iowa can knock off a ranked team as they play Wisconsin and Minnesota, both at home, next.

Why do Indiana fans sound like they are going to start a riot after every foul call?

I developed a disdain for IU during that game. Apparently Crean decided the best way to defend is just to have them grab and hold and go over the back all game. Tough to get away with when you're already fouling more than any team in the league. WTF was with Oladipo getting the calls when he was just putting his head down and running into McCabe?

I've never seen a bad team with more staredowns. Sheehey's dunk was crazy good but what a clown. Slapping the ball away from Mel after the whistle then acting innocent, screaming after Cole blocked him on the other attempted dunk and of course the constant stares.

Their big guys are all just goons with no skill who try to bruise you but have no real idea of what they're doing other than to be rough. I don't think Capobianco actually understands what basketball is, he's just some former mafia goon that Crean found. He airballed a 10 footer and it was like 2 full feet long.

Clappy McClapperson spends more time pumping the crowd up, pacing and clapping than he does really doing anything.

Anyways that was a really fun game. Aside from everything I said, IU is playing pretty well and their fans were nuts. That was a tough environment on the road and we came back from down 10 when the past few years we would have just folded up the tent and lost by 20. Mel was a force again and Cartwright has some stones. He still plays dumb sometimes and isn't very good defensively but he's come a long ways. 5th time in 11 Big Ten games that Mel has gone from 20 and 10 and he's been over 50% each time.

Like Bardo was saying the level of play was higher than what you typically see from 10 vs. 11 teams and we're experts on games like that after the last 3 years. That was a fairly well played game. Hell that's probably like a middle of the pack game in the Pac 10. Ultimately it's meaningless but it felt a lot more important. Beating MSU by 20 and then winning on the road is a big step. First back to back wins in the Big Ten since '07, how sad is that?

I also liked Clappy saying that the guy not getting enough credit is Todd Lickliter. Ah-huh, sure.

He also said that he wasn't going to make any excuses but spent the remaining time making excuses.

I don't know what his issue was. I used to like Crean but his him and his team kind of came off like a bunch of bitches today.

See the NU game to see what you need to know about IU's goonery.

See the non-punishment of Elston and the laughable explanation to know that Crean's a total clown

Thanks I completely forgot about that. Never heard his explanation but a quick search tells me that he said it would be completely out of character for Elston to do anything dishonestly. What a clown.

It wouldn't feel right around here without all the IU hate, heh.

I'm disappointed IU couldn't win that one today. I have enjoyed seeing them compete the last couple of weeks like they haven't done in quite a while. The optimistic side of me hopes that due to the injuries, some of these guys getting more playing time will be better off because of it. I think Oladipo and Sheehey have shown quite a bit more than anyone expected of them. Hulls has been quite good on the offensive end, but struggles at times on defense. Losing Watford, who is clearly the best player on this team, will be tough to deal with. Rivers has actually had a pretty good year. He's been a good defensive player, and actually been producing offensively lately.

They aren't too good, but they play hard. I can at least appreciate the effort. It is hard to not be optimistic with the recruiting that has been done. But, bottom line is they need to take a step next year with this group who has been together for a while now.

Ok, feel free to bash them and my comments now.

I'm still bitter that they did not play with this kind of effort earlier in the season.

Sooner or later, IU fans are going to turn on Crean.

Why?

I'd like more wins as much as anyone right now, but I'm willing to give the guy some time. Like I said earlier, this team needs to start showing more progress next year. Hopefully another year of experience, health (hopefully), and adding a good post player will do that.

You can't ask for much more in what is lined up for 2012 and beyond. If IU is still playing this in two years I'll be concerned. I think the worst is behind them at this point.

KU has actually looked pretty good its last few games. Nebraska is a very good defensive team, and we obliterated them today on the road.

Right now I am thinking both Texas and Kansas will be getting #1 seeds based on the remaining schedules.

if we play again in the Big 12 championship and we lose, i doubt we'll get a 1.

=D>

We won so there's not a bit of crying. I'm happy.

I like Hulls, liked Watford, Oladipo is decent and I like that Rivers is willing to not shoot and only do what helps his team win. The rest of it is a squad of goons led by a cheerleader who really doesn't coach. I really don't have anything against Clappy, I wanted him when he spoke to Iowa after Alford left. He gets his guys to play hard and now he's recruiting well (smart enough to hire Drew Adams and get his dad in play). I had a couple beers with Buckley when he was at Iowa and he's an absolutely great guy. I just think he's kind of a clown and isn't really much of a threat at IU.

So if he misses the tournament next year he's not in any danger?

I've met Buckley as well, both in Iowa City and later in Milwaukee. He is indeed awesome.

iowa state has lost SIX games in which they led with a minute or less to go. that is hard to do.

When you only have 7-8 scholarship players playing, it's not hard to fathom. How KSU won when ISU shot 50% from 3 and hit something like 15 more free throws than we even shot is more amazing.
