I missed the days when Iowa could keep Northwestern within 15.

That was one of the worst home games I've had to sit through.

Pretty disheartening to see an effort like that in back to back games after being competitive. These guys just are not smart basketball players. When they don't play all out they're going to give up open looks. And when you let teams get going early it's just contagious. Thank God Cartwright and Gatens were able to score tonight.

Frank Martin is probably going to murder someone tonight.

What a faceplant for KSU this year.

For real, and I'm not sure it's going to get any better. What's their guardplay going to be like without Pullen?

Terrible.

As for this year, they'll get a shot in the arm when Kelly comes back, but still, check their schedule over the next 5:

They could easily lose four of those games. Tech probably won't be a problem.

does kansas always travel on every [expletive] possession or is that something new?

Haha, do you boo on every possession like every isu fan? Your post guys couldn't stop Mc Morris.

calling them "post guys" is pretty generous.

Agreed... 1-6 is a true possibility.

That's the third time Florida State beat a No. 1 Duke team since 2002 (also in 02 and 06).
And the 4th time during the same period that they beat a #1 team (I'm not sure who the other #1 team they beat was).

Probably a UNC team.

That would be my first guess, although it could have been somebody else in a nonconference game.

Sportscenter said Duke has been knocked off as a #1 team by an unranked team 7 teams. 6 for UNC, and 4 for Stanford. (Really? I'm mildly surprised Stanford was ranked #1 enough to even register.

My gut said Maryland actually, not sure though.

yeah, isu will win a home game or two they have no business winning. if stupid hamilton (6'11" guy that could defend and get rebounds) hadn't transferred to LSU because he was "homesick" (he's from utah, lol), they could actually maybe win 7 games in conference or something. Edited by abuck1220

I have no idea why but Maryland came to mind.

Why did anyone buy the hype that they were a great team? Pullen is great. The rest of the guys are ok. They remind me a lot of Illinois.

UCLA has at least 2 of those wins against Stanford (of course there's no reason some of those Steve Lavin teams should have been unranked given their talent level).

That's what happens when you're ranked #1 all the time.

I haven't checked Ken Pom or Sagarin's ratings, but it looks like both ISU and Colorado are legitimately decent teams this season. The Big 12 is tough this season.

Any reason why Purdue chose not to get the ball to JaJuan in the last 3+ minutes?

Or why they played for a last second shot, down by 3 (having the ball with 25 seconds on the clock). Or why DJ Byrd took the crucial 3 (or why he was even on the floor over some other outside shooting options). Moore killed us shooting 2-14. When it's not your night, give it to someone else. He was painful to watch. Purdue clearly doesn't match up well with teams that have the size of Minny. That being said, they still should've won last night.

Oregon debuted their new court last night. It's hideous. UCLA is playing them there on Saturday; my eyes are going to hate me if I watch.

I watched that game and it grew on me a little bit. Did anyone see their pre-game extravaganza? It was like 20-25 minutes starting with Phil Knight pointing out everyone in the arena who knew Matthew Knight. Then they had pyrotechnics, a mock court storming by students who just jumped around in the center of the court around no one, a drumline, cheerleaders, a break dancer and some performances from their dance team (wow).

They were collapsing on Johnson at the end of the game before the ball even got into his hands. Jackson tried to take it to the hole as a result, but he's just too short and the help defense shoved the ball back down his throat. Purdue didn't initially play for the last shot. I think Painter wanted them to try to go for a quick hoop with 20+ seconds go to, but whoever was handling the ball (I think it was Moore) tried to penetrate and was fronted, then just dribbled back and forth at the top of the key looking for an opening till Painter called the TO with 10 seconds left.

The last play, I think Byrd was only in there to get a rebound if needed. The play was broken early and Minnesota forced it to him. He's not a terrible shooter, but I definitely would have rather had Smith, Moore, A.Johson and J.Johnson take the shot before him, in that order.

Bottom line is it was very good execution by Minne and disgustingly bad execution by the Boilers. I'm disappointed, but my expectations for this team haven't been too high since Hummel went down. I'm just going to enjoy watching Johnson until the NCAA tourney and then just hope they can sneak by a couple of rounds. Final Four is a pipe dream at this point rather than expected.
