Pacman a Packer?

Jones has told Sporting News Radio that the Green Bay Packers were one of four teams to contact him, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Senitnel.

Pacman in Titletown doesn’t seem like much of a match (you can insert your own one-liners here), but the Packers have been seeking an infusion of youth at cornerback. Jones doesn’t have any offers of a tryout or a contract.

Walter Jones of Seattle retired today. Which of these phenomenal NFL left tackles was better: Pace or Jones?

I don't know who's better, but this is pretty impressive:

On 5,703 pass attempts over 13 seasons, according to coaches stats, Walter Jones was called for holding 9 times and surrendered 23 sacks.

In other retirement news, Jeff Feagles, 22 year vet and last man standing from the original Tecmo Super Bowl, is hanging them up.

Peter King of SI.com reports that after the season, Favre told a fellow NFL player whom he knows well that he's definitely done.

"I'm 100 percent positive I'll never put on pads again in my life," Favre told the unnamed player, according to King.

lol, ochocinco tweeting that pac man jones might be a bengal by the end of the day.

Ocho may be right.

Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones got a second look from the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday, and his signing with the team is imminent, according to multiple media reports.

A league source told the NFL Network that Jones' representative, Ray Savage, had several conversations with the Bengals during the cornerback's visit, and the sides have the nucleus of a multiyear deal in place.

Wow. I wonder if one of the multiple sources is OCNN?

Tim Tebow already leads the NFL in one category: jersey sales.

His Denver Broncos No. 15 was by far the most popular on the NFL's Web site for April. His celebrity clearly trumps the debate over whether he'll ever make it as an NFL quarterback after winning the Heisman Trophy and two national championships at Florida.

I would think $80 is a lot to drop just to be ironic.

Supposedly, the Cowboys will finalize a trade Monday that will send Bobby Carpenter to the Rams for Alex Barron. I think Carpenter is a huge waste and had his fate sealed when da Boys drafted Lee. I don't know a lot about Barron though. Rumor is that he will compete with Free for LT but will likely end up as a swing tackle. Anything to like about him or is he just a spare part?

Has good size. Has pretty good talent, but hasn't lived up to it because he gets penalties every chance he gets. However, he is just 27. He's 6'7", 315 and extremely athletic. May just need a change of scenery. Free will probably start, but if the Cowboys could develop Barron, I think he can still be a pretty good OT.

"Barron had trouble with false start penalties early, committing 22 of the fouls, with five holding calls his first two years when he was credited with 14.5 sacks allowed. His early motion flags have been on the decline since then, down from nine in 2007, to seven in 2008, then five last season. He has been caught holding eight times during that span, including five holdings in 2009, tied for the most in the league. He has allowed 7.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons."

Thanks, Raw. Most Cowboy fans are just happy to be rid of Carpenter who hasn't shown much of anything in Dallas.

And, why isn't the accusations that Saints coach Sean Payton may have a vicodin addiction getting more press?

Because the Saints are America's last hope for suriving these desperate times. If any of them fall, then so shall we.

Probably because it's a civil case, not a criminal one.

The powerful Eastern Illinois University coaching syndicate is keeping it quiet.

expectations on Carpenter were high, and he sucked. With the lack of OL in the draft this move makes sense.

Colts might cut Bob Sanders if he's not healthy this year.

Also, is there any truth to the speculation that if Bob Sanders does not play well or play at all this season the Colts may cut him next offseason to avoid paying him all of the money from his contract?

As for Sanders, sure, it's very possible the team would consider terminating his contract if he plays poorly (very unlikely if he's healthy) or has another injury-plagued season. The Colts have shown patience with Sanders, but I'm sure they have their limits. He's due a base salary of $5 million in 2011 and $7 million in 2012.

Panther WR Steve Smith broke his arm during a flag football game.

"They were messing around, the ball went over his head and he slipped," Fox said Monday. "He put his arm out to brace himself. When he did he felt a sharp pain. He went in [sunday] afternoon to have an X-ray and it showed a break."

Fox predicted that Smith should be ready for the Panthers' regular-season opener on Sept. 12 at the New York Giants.

"I'm not trying to play doctor, but I don't think he'll miss any games due to this injury," Fox told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
