The Cardinals have hired McGwire as their hitting coach, not Osama bin Hitler.

What does his job description have to do with how rival fans feel about him? He and his Gurussa have been lying for years and all savvy fans know it. What? He gets a pass for admitting he was dirty? Like we didn't know that?

His handling of the Costas interview was as sickening as the congressional hearing.

This mess will not go away, and until he and LaLiar are sent packing it will always be a black eye to the Cardinal Organization.

Hitler is dead....Bin Laden is in hiding....McGwire will be O so accessible.

I just can't take you seriously.

I actually threw up after the Costas interview. Then I thought about being in the dugout as a manager and threw up again. :)

I flew to Guam to get away from all of the heartbreak. Tried to coach a game between vomiting sessions and then gave up on baseball after I saw a young hitter swing at 3 straight pitches in the dirt. It's like they've never even heard of OBP.

Steve Rosenbloom's view on the matter in a blog entitled "Sounds like Piniella's offseason lobotomy took"

The "Lou'' in Lou Piniella apparently remains short for lunatic. Certainly, the guy remains out of touch with real life.

He told the New York Times he believes that Cubs fans will take it easy on Mark McGwire, the steroid-abuser and seemingly pathological liar who is the Cardinals’ new hitting coach.

I mean, get a load of this from Sweet Loon: “I think Cub fans will treat him fine. We have a great rivalry. He'll be accepted well. I think they feel he confessed and it's over with."

Omigawd, that’s all so insane and inane. Cubs fans hate the Cardinals, McGwire sounded like he did more lying than confessing, and anyone with functioning neurotransmitters knows that Wrigley Field looks like the Hallmark channel but sounds like a Scorsese movie. Connect the dots, Loon.

Truth is, any Cubs fan who in fact takes it easy on McGwire isn’t a real Cubs fan. I mean, a liar and cheater from the team’s greatest rival, and Cubs fans are going to make nice?

Piniella was out of answers for his team last June, a condition that apparently hasn’t changed.

Well, the Cardinals had their 1st ST game yesterday and the new Hitting coach was NOT on the field for batting practice...but he was later spotted in the dugout...he was also not spotted by reporters after the game.

This is merely a precurser to the regular season....stay tuned.

Or it's not and you're being ridiculous about this whole thing. Yeah, that's it.

Actually, the whole thing is over. If you were being more attentive, you would know that McGwire gave the media their day a couple weeks ago and the world has moved on.

And honestly, what were they going to ask him yesterday?

Your obsession with McGwire is ridiculous.

They were going to ask him if he ever did steroids. Duh.

If you ever cheered Sammy Sosa, can you really boo Mark McGwire?

2 problems with that theory. One, Sammy was a Cub and McGwire was a Card, so why not boo him if that's your thing. Fans boo past stars of other teams all the time. Also, if you "ever" cheered Sammy doesn't take into account people who cheered him then and were changed their opinion later. Why couldn't they boo Mac?

I guess they could if they wanted to. I'm just asking would they feel okay with it? I wouldn't.

Obviously, if it's just because he's a Cardinal, it's different.

I'm still peeved how he threw the Simpsons off the trail of MLB by hitting dingers.

I cheered them both and will now boo them both....I just don't think I will have the oppertunity to boo Sammy. He and Bonds have faded from the baseball scene, where they belong. Mac and his Svengarlic chose another route illustrating their unabashed arrogance yet again.
