I never get too upset over a team's hitting coach.

He'll likely get heckled during bp by the fans who show up early, but I'd probably expect more might ask for an autograph.

But this hitting coach is a little different...the reporters will be after him more than the star of the game in the 1st weeks.

90% of the crowd won't even see him. They'll be too focused on the game, or too focused on getting drunk, or too focused on their girlfriends.

Those that do would look pretty stupid booing McGwire when Sosa was right there with him most of the time.

It's time to leave Big Mac alone and play some baseball.

When he comes here to Kansas City I am going to be there for when he comes to the stadium. Walk up to him with a White glove and then slap him. Challenging him to duel.

Brutal indifference

I'm sure that's what he is PRAYING for. I don't think that will be the case in NY and Philly.

When are people going to boo him?

On his way into the park, during BP, leaving the park and signs bobbing in the stands and possible stuff thrown on the field. Besides those things, I guess nothing.

The Cardinals have hired McGwire as their hitting coach, not Osama bin Hitler.

What does his job description have to do with how rival fans feel about him? He and his Gurussa have been lying for years and all savvy fans know it. What? He gets a pass for admitting he was dirty? Like we didn't know that?

His handling of the Costas interview was as sickening as the congressional hearing.

This mess will not go away, and until he and LaLiar are sent packing it will always be a black eye to the Cardinal Organization.

Hitler is dead....Bin Laden is in hiding....McGwire will be O so accessible.

Childish nicknames always help drive home a point.

Why are the fans going to go nuts when they didn't over Bonds? Or over ARod after his "revelation?" McGwire isn't going to get anything unusual except the usual catcalls by the people there early for a game. After that he's not going to be on the field during the game for "incidents."

I assume there will be about 50 drunk Cubs fans who will leave Sluggers pre-game early to yell at McGwire during BP. Just let it die, already. Enjoy beautiful weather, drunk women, and a classic stadium. Maybe even watch the game for an inning or two. Why waste time being a douche?

That's not any kind of exception regarding McGwire; you always have fans before and during the game heckling the guys in the OF.

And would McGwire even be out there? Presumably he'd be by the plate during BP. It's not like security is going to let people just say or do whatever they want towards him in the grandstand.

This is what people told me when I'd get drunk and boo Aaron Miles.

Agreed. Basically, I think Pujols will receive a whole bunch more boos and catcalls than McGwire will, simply because the crowd won't notice him.

Now if only there was a jumbotron to show his cratered face 30 feet tall, then there'd be a great time to unite for a classic Wrigley Cheer!
