It appears Jets DE Marques Douglas has been hard at work douching it up. In an interview, he basically just made things up and got some key stats wrong by about 100%.

"There was a lot of chatter coming out of the Colts about how they let us win the game and maybe they should put an asterisk beside the win," the ninth-year pro said. "We feel different."

But the Colts' postgame comments didn't reflect the assertion -- players stuck to a company line that coach Jim Caldwell made a decision and they abided by it.

Asked specifically about which Colts players mentioned letting the Jets win, Douglas said, "I don't know which one.

"The last time I checked, Peyton only had, what, I think 106 yards passing when he was in there and I don't think they ran the ball that effectively."

Manning actually passed for 192 yards before he exited in the third quarter. But it would appear perception has become reality for how the Jets recall the game.

What an idiot. I guess he has to just make things up to get himself fired up for the game. I now hope the Colts just completely embarrass them.

Get to Sunday afternoon already.

Sounds like Ray Edwards and Kevin Williams will play but likely won't be 100%. Percy is the real question mark. Didn't practice the last two days and might not be able to play. It all depends on when the migraine subsides. Either way he hasn't been able to take part in film study and meetings the last two days.

these dumb articles always come out before big games.

but why don't they go down the rest of the factors? of course there's more to do in nyc. but new york is also overcrowded, traffic-ridden and overpriced . the colts play in a nice stadium and the jets play in a dump in the middle of a toxic wasteland. the jets' coach is a morbidly obese loudmouth and the colts' coach is a classy, effective leader. so really... F the jets.

The Jets have played their last game at Giants Stadium.

So we agree that you comment about playing in a dump was dumb. Good.

It's still in the middle of a toxic wasteland.

Hahaha. There's more to do in NYC than Indy? No [expletive]. Hard-hitting journalism, right there. I love (and by love i mean hate) those ignorant types of articles that come out before every big game.

It's seeming like the Jets have a done a pretty thorough job of annoying the hell out of people. Here's hoping for a brutal beat down.

I'm with Flames. I also hope Brett Favre is the reason the Vikings lose.

Nah try living and working with a ton of bandwagon Colts fans. Really hoping for a Jets win. :P

I meant the actual team and the NY media. Any good team is going to have a bunch of bandwagon fans, but not every under dog team acts like mega douches.

And I do live close enough to experience the bandwagon Colts fans. One of my least favorite things about sports is that any time there's a championship or something, facebook gets flooded with bimbos updating their statuses to let everyone know how much they love the team they just started paying attention to.

OK, prediction time.

First, with the caveat that previous games aren't necessarily predictive or indicative, I wanted to quickly review the previous Colts-Jets game (it's been about 50-50 but I've heard/read a lot of "it was only 15-10'). Even before the mass exodus, the Colts were playing with one hand tied behind their back due to resting players and a limited game plan. Further, the Colts had an extra point blocked and the subsequently failed on a two-point conversion, and the Jets scored seven of their 10 points on a 106-yard kickoff return (I believe the only such return the Colts have allowed and the Jets have scored). It was a pretty fluky 15-10. Not to say the Jets have no chance.

I don't particularly think this is a very good matchup for the Jets, though. First, it's a Rex Ryan defense (so analogous to the Ravens) which Peyton Manning and the Colts have been very successful against. Second, the Jets rely on big plays offensively. Eleven of the Jets 38 TD's have been from plays 29-yard or greater, including three of five in the playoffs. The Jets struggle to sustain long drive -- which will surely be the goal today. The Colts defense, however, is predicated on not giving up the big play. The Colts allowed 29 TD's and -- excepting two scored by the Bills against backups -- only two were longer than 17 yards (a 64-yard Frank Gore run where two defenders ran into each other, and an irrelevant Brady-to-Moss bomb -- irrelevant because the Jets certainly cannot match that tandem). The Colts allowed the fewest passing plays of 20 or more yards. Excepting the Bills game, the Colts only allowed five runs of 20 or more yards (which would be best in the NFL). If the Colts take away the big plays -- as is their modus operandi -- the Jets will have to sustain long drives. Now, sustaining long drives would be in the best interests of the Jets, but I just don't see that as a very likely scenario.

If the Colts play well and don't shoot themselves in the foot, they should be fine. Colts 23, Jets 9. Saints 27, Vikings 24.
