enjoy your sham title, you [expletive] goons

Man, those are some sour [expletive] grapes.

well, it is a sham title... eeking out a victory as a heavy favorite and the underdog loses (by far) their most important player almost at kickoff...

How is that Alabama's fault? They knocked him out of the game. This perception of big games always confuses me.

It's not their fault they knocked McCoy out of the game. It's the fact that they should have rolled easily after knocking him out. Texas had the ball down only 3 with 3 minutes left. I'm a Purdue and Big Ten fan, so I really could care less... just saying...

Texas is still a team loaded with talented players. Obviously the QB is the most important player, but it's not like the rest of the team was going to lay down. It's not like the Bears losing Cutler, Texas actually has talent at every position.

Seriously? How much playing time has Gilbert had in his college career? Thrust into a game he hadn't mentally prepared for against one of the top (if not the top) defenses in the country. Texas isn't a running team... Oh yeah, and it's the national championship game...

Let's ignore the fact he played great most of the second half, and Jordan Shipley was playing out of his mind.

Well, the fact that he did is the entire point I was making... just completely unexpected. Anyway, I'm off to bed!

He played well, the Alabama defense didn't go to sleep or something. I don't think McCoy would have done a much better job in that second half. The first half, that's a different story.

I'm not going to gloat, I'm not going to trash talk, I am just loving the moment so much that all the little snide comments (OMC and Truff, both of which are clearly talking out of their arses) that have been made towards Saban, I won't even respond. Suffice to say, Bama proved they ARE the best team in college football of 2009.

Number 13 coming home to Tuscaloosa. Way to go, Roll Damn Tide... :D

I'm already annoyed about the future complaining that's going to take place because of the last touchdown that Alabama scored.

Congrats to 'Bama.

As someone watching with no rooting interest, I wish we'd seen the full game played with both teams' best players, but credit the Alabama defense for knocking McCoy out of the game.

See you 9/11/10, when Alabama destroys Penn State in Tuscaloosa

Congrats, but Nick Saban in an ass. This is immutable fact. He's a great coach, but a total ass. If he were the coach of Florida or something, you'd be talking about what an ass he is as well.

I have this question. The Cubs and Cardinals are playing in the 2010 NLCS, and say Pujols gets hurt in game 1 and is out for the rest of the series. Cubs win in seven games. Would you guys be calling it a "sham pennant?"

While I don't believe that Alabama won a "sham game" or anything. There is a difference between losing a starting quarterback for a guy who hasn't played much or at all and losing one player in baseball for a bench player who has played quite a bit during the season and probably in his career.

On the flipside. Texas still has a defense. They had the ball inside Alabama territory twice and couldn't score (having a back up QB in isn't much excuse as he is still a D1 player and you should still be able to move the ball 35-40 yards with him) and he had success in the second half. Saying Alabama didn't deserve to win because of the injury is kind of dumb to me.

cubs making the nlcs in 2010, that's a good one.

We don't need you to respond to that. Everyone knows that trying to score with 1:30 left in the game when you are up by 10 is classless.
