Spencer was rated as the #16 A's prospect as of mid-season last year

16. Matt Spencer, OF/1B: Spencer doesn’t get much press, as he is often thought of as the “third” prospect in the Joe Blanton deal from last season. However, the left-handed hitter has quietly put together an outstanding season at High-A and Double-A, hitting both for average and power. The only knock on his game offensively is his plate patience, which could use some improvement.

[-( I refuse to believe the Cubs would target such a player.

I don't really get this trade for Oakland.

I'm in the, "who cares!" camp. Miles is gone.

This is just like the day when we found out Neifi was finally traded...It was a blessing..Im gonna say im more excited about Miles getting traded than the day Neifi was..Its a close battle but Miles suckiness he brings and spreads to the team and just a more hatred for him put him on top

My hatred for Jim Hendry suddenly was alleviated...

Did you forget why we made this trade (Miles) or that we had to pay AM $1 million not to play for us.

He can play patty-cake with Tyler Colvin in AAA in between horrific plate appearances. :P

As bad as Neifi was he was never as bad as Miles was last season. The biggest problem with Neifi that made people hate him more is all the playing time he got from Dusty.

Why trade Fox?

Why not, he's a future DH in the AL.

Because he doesn't hit well enough to cover up for his terrible defense? Is it that hard to understand?

Your comments describe Cust perfectly too. And I think Fox is better than Cust with his .239 career average.

A better comparison would probably be Jose Macias.

I like it. Hendry and Beane like to make deals, don't they?

They evaluate players differently, so each is willing to let go of players the other is interested in.

Morla doesn't seem like much obviously, but Gray and Spencer straight up for Fox honestly doesn't seem too bad to me, if that was the entire deal. To lose Miles' and only have to pay a mill of his 2.7 is pretty damn strong as far as I'm concerned. Pretty good deal, all in all really......

I totally agree with you, but we have to be careful saying something good about Hendry around here.
