Yes, Football Outsiders picked the Bears to reach the Super Bowl last season, something they didn't come close to doing. That isn't the forecast for 2010, but the prediction is better than you will find in some circles where the Bears are considered the third-best team in the NFC North.

When it comes to the "mean projection," Football Outsiders has Green Bay with 9.4 wins, the Bears with 9, Minnesota with 8.6 and Detroit with 3.1. So much for that resurgence in Motown, huh? That puts the Bears right in the hunt for a division crown.

The organization of that seems funny to me.

"This system picked the Bears to go to the Super Bowl last year but they didn't come close to the playoffs and it undervalued the Packers and VIkings. Well this year while some people are picking the Bears 3rd in the division, this system picks them to be less than a half win worse than the Packers and less than a half win better than the Vikings. So yeah, there's that."

If any of you Bears fans want to see the Bears play at Cowboys stadium in Septemeber. I have two extra seats to that game. They are up high in the cheaper seats (though there aren't any cheap seats in the stadium.). Sec 446 row 29.

Hit me up if you are interested. Oh...game is on September 19 at noon.

Green Bay will be around there, the Bears will be around there. But Minnesota is winning more than that and Detroit is too. Detroit is shaping up to be quite a team. They have too much talent to win 3 games.

I can almost see the stadium from my house and I will watch that game at home. Those tickets are too expensive. The stadium is mighty impressive, though.

Yeah, I'm not buying 3 wins for Detroit. I think they'll be a little better than that.

No one ever went broke underestimating the Detroit Lions.

Haha...so true. Even when they're "good" they're bad.

i'll happily take the over for 3.1 wins with anybody who's willing to wager

Well I would too...but that doesn't mean they won't still suck. If it was 5.1, I'd have a harder time betting higher.

Sure, but 5.1 isn't 3.1

Bears took BYU RB Harvey Unga in the 7th round of the supplemental draft today.

He had a solid career at BYU, but he withdrew from the university for violating their honor code. Ran for 1087 yards and 11 TDs last year as a junior, and is a big bruiser-type back at 6-0, 244 pounds. I really like this low risk, high reward move.

Not a burner but I like his game. Great value.

It also means the Bears lose next year's 7th round pick.

They have a 7th from the Rams for Kevin Payne though. Well worth the risk, IMO.

Plus 7th round picks are mostly worthless.

And are often a dime a dozen. It seems like the Titans have 2-3 a year at least.

Tickets on sale Saturday. Gonna go with either the Patriots or Jets in December.

I got 2 buddies from Boston coming up for that Pats game...the pressure is on.

Based on previous experience, as long as you are at the computer exactly when they go on sale, you should get tickets to 1 game. But by the time you purchase the one game, everything else is nearly sold out except for the expensive seats.

That's not true for the most desired games. If you go for the Packers or the Vikings (this year), you're likely going to get shut out no matter how quickly you get through. But hopefully the Patriots game won't be at the top of people's lists.

I have gotten 2 games for the last few years. Usually one online and one through the automated phone line, though online gets priority. And I've always been able to get some over the phone maybe 15 minutes after they go on sale, but it's hard.

Normally I'd go for the least desirable game, but with college football, I'll be busy enough through November. And since the Lions are the home opener, they'll be a bit more desirable than normal. The Seahawks and Redskins will be the "easiest" to get this year.
