The linebackers weren't the problem last year, they were a strength and I don't think it would have been significantly better with urlacher and pisa. Although roach got reps, that was good.

What were you watching? You don't think the LBs would have been better with Urlacher and Pisa in there instead of Hillenmeyer and Williams or whoever was in there? Watch the Cincinnati game again and see Benson getting to the outside because the linebackers could get there quick enough. Or see Palmer buying time because the blitz couldn't get through and find wide open guys. The LBs had a couple of decent games, but by no means were they a strength IMO.

i don't think it would have been very different at all with urlacher and pisa in there. the linebackers stepped up and if you don't undertsnad that, i have a hard time believing that you were watching the games.

they were a total strength between a couple of disasters. they did the best they could behind a line that got routinely blown up, and couldn't blitz only because it took all of four offensive linemen to block the guys with their heands on the ground.

they were stretched thin and played great, did the best they could to cover the other gaping holes in the d.

All the LBs had their good moments last year, and all had some poor moments. I thought Briggs had his worst year in about 5-6 seasons. He started off great, ended great, but was lackluster in the middle. Roach was solid, but he had some mental lapses when he was in the middle. Hillenmeyer was solid, but isn't a starting LB like he was forced to do, and isn't good in coverage.

Reggie Williams was released by the Seahawks today. He's been out of the league for some drug stuff since 2008 but he's still only 27. He's listed at 6'4" 212 too.

Vincent Jackson is possibly on the block since he can't get a contract done with the Chargers.

I would go as high as a 2nd rounder for him. We still have some of those right?

the last guy we traded a second round pick for died

Yeah, but Jackson is coming off back to back years in which his numbers are right there with the elite WRs in the game (maybe a step behind) . A 2nd rd pick would definately be a better spent pick then the pick spent on Adams.

Unless he dies too.

Which is highly unlikely, tho I do admit it is a possibillity. The Bears luck ain't that bad, is it?

Definitely would understand the NFL forbidding it.

Not just the NFL, but any sport. It goes hand in hand with the idea of tampering. I don't understand how this is a story, or how the tribune picked it up as a breaking news story and sort of agree he was being mistreated. He's got no reason to be there.

I understand after 8 years with the org he still has friends, but if Alex wanted to hang out with some of his buddies do it at a club, bowling alley, etc, etc, not at another team's Home Office. I believe Alex should not have been escorted out of the building by security like a common thug, I think somebody like Angelo or Smith should have meet with him and let him know he isn't allow there (Bears HQ) anymore as he isn't a member of the org.

A common thug would not have been politely escorted out of the building. Let's stop painting Brown as some sort of victim of mistreatment here.

But don't the Bears need to act quickly in that kind of situation? What if Lovie and/or Angelo aren't available?

I just don't think the Bears did anything wrong at all in this situation. They need to follow league rules. And frankly, so does Alex.

I always liked A Brown, but it seems like he just brain farted on the league rule, or was unaware of it when he probably should have been, and should simply drop it and move on.

True on all aspects, but this isn't just a disgrunted former Bear, this was Alex Brown who was generally liked, and he gave everything he had for the org. Yes he should had been escorted out of the building, but not by security.

As for Angelo and Smith aren't available, I don't know about that. Alex Brown back at Halas Hall would be a "great disturbance in the Force" and if Angelo or Smith were there they would have known that. If there weren't then somebody from their staff should have been there. I don't mind Brown being escorted out of the building, but security? Really?

Those are the people who escort others out of buildings. My god, this is almost as dumb an issue as Ricketts being out of town.
