ok bears fans, now that notre dame has done the inevitable, how would you feel about ron turner being fired in the offseason and charlie weis being hired as his replacement?

Would he work under Lovie knowing that he's likely a lame duck HC?

Sick to my stomach.

He might be all you can get, other than a young unproven guy who is looking for a shot. Or Martz.

i'm just saying, it seems to be the general consensus that turner is awfu, while a lot of people still think that weis is a good offensive mind who was just not cut out to lead a college program.

I would find it acceptable, although not desirable. I'd much rather they get rid of the whole crew and then let the new HC determine his staph. And if Weis is involved, fine by me. I think the Bears do need somebody who has worked successfully with high caliber NFL QBs, and Weis has done that, Turner has not.

I know. I actually don't dismiss the idea. I think it'll be a tough sell in Chicago though, which of all major cities is probably one of the most ND-centric and hurting from ND's failures.

I'm indifferent on how think Weis would do as this team's OC. I do think he is a better fit though for a team with a firm head coach who's offense needs an extra boost. The Giants come to mind as a really good fit.

i know it would be really humbling to go back to the job he left, but the patriots don't even have an offensive coordinator right now.

Weis would be a definite upgrade over Turner, I would prefer it. With that said, Weis track record at NE is somewhat clouded given how well they have done since he left. It's up to that person to decide whether or not, he created the model they're still using so well or the talent has been a bigger factor in NE's success moreso than what Weis brought to the table.

To be honest, I prefer Martz over Weis.

Watching this team is probably worse than getting a Staph.

On today’s pregame show on the Score, Hub clarified this point, saying that it wasn’t multiple free agent coaches but one in particular – former Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher.

The Bears have denied the report, but Hub stands by the story and calls his source impeccable.

i don't really consider this a big deal. if you aren't sure if your head coach is "the guy" and haven't given bill cowher a call, you're not trying hard enough.

Gives us a glimmer of hope with a generally thrifty front office that wouldn't want to part with a coach who still has years remaining on his contract.

I'm with goony. I'd prefer complete house cleaning but if I didn't get that, I'd take Weis over Turner. I would prefer Kubiak to Weis.

A Shanahan/Kubiak package would be nice.

Isnt Shanahan an offensive guy though? If he were to come here I have a feeling he would control most of the offense, and not let Kubiak have much say. Id be in favor of a Cower/Kubiak package. Let Cower worry about the D, and let Kubiak worry about the offense.

Cowher/Kubiak would be like the Dream Team compared to what we have now.
